To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIS EUGENE KEN- NISON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Clasps for Necklaces and the like, of which the following is a specification. v
In a preferred up to date clasp for necklaces, the clasp consists of a body having a eight front connecting edge prongs each of which is secured to the front by solder, aring and a hook member which snaps onto the prongs. In this con struction all of the eight front connecting prongs are formed integral with the back.
The object of my invention is to produce such a clasp for necklaces and the like in which the front is secured to the back without the use of solder. I
A further object of my-invention is to re duce the cost of manufacturing such clasps to a'minimum cost.
My invention consists in'the peculiar and clasp in which end rongs on the front are used to connect the front to the back of'the clasp, said clasp having details of construction, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter and claimed.
Figure-1 is a front view of my improved clasp for necklaces and the like.

A ring 16, is alsosecured to the opposite back connecting end prong 11 to which the other end of the necklace is secured.
As heretofore constructed the back plate prongs are secured tothe'front plate by eight solderings; By the use of my improved construction the the back plate without the use of solder, thereby thus materially reducing'the cost of-manufacturing this form of a necklace clasp.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new I 1. A clasp for necklaces andthe like, said clasp consisting principally of abody member comprising aback and a front plate,-

In a clasp having a body member, a snap member and a ring member for the purpose described, said body member consisting of a front plate and a back plate, the back plate having end rivet holes and a plurality of oppositely disposed edge prongs the ends of which engage with and the front plate having end rivet prongs, the
ends of which are riveted in the rivet holes in the back plate, thereby spacing the front plate from the back plate and securing the front plate to the back plate without solder. In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
