BRICK-PALLET.
Specification of Letters latent.
Patented Jan. 23, M117.
Application filed January 3, 1916. Serial No. 69,869.
To all to ham it may concern Be it known that T, Anson J. BENTLEY, a citizen of the United States of America. residing at Niles. in the county of Trumbull and State or" Ohio. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bricklallets, of which the following is a speci[i cation.
My present invention is an improvement in brick-pallets of the kind described in Letters Patent No. 833,665, issued. to me Oct. 16, 1.906; No. 859,039, July 2, 1907, and N0. 1,06a.,811 issued to me and Frank Bentley June 17, 1913, to each 01 which reference is hereby made.
The objects of this invention are, first, to provide such pallets as while permitting of free circulation of air between the layers of bricks, are of increased strength and more convenient shape, and without sharp projections which would catch upon each other and upon extraneous objects, and whose protruding edges and corners become bent out of shape or broken 0H and, second, to materially reduce the manufacturing cost of such pallets. I accomplish those objects by the means which are fully set forth in the specification; clearly illustrated in the drawings, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective of the bottom of my pallet; Fig. 2 is a perspective of the top, and Fig.
3 is a sectional Yiew taken on the line BB, of Fig. 2.
The pallet 1, which is made of sheet metal, is formed with its two longitudinal edges 2, 2, rolled under, forming the hand grasps 3, 3, which formation lends the greatest strength to the metal and the pallc'. Protuberances (T. l. are struck by the forming die in one or more spots or locations on the edges 2, 2, preferably in two pairs, one pair near each end. The protuberances 4, at are not punctured through the metal, wherefore there are no raw, ragged or cutting edges protrudin yet they serve to prevent the close alinement of contiguous pallets and the bricks thereon, and preserve uniform air spaces between the rows or layers of bricks which are to be dried or burned.
The advantages of my present invention are apparent.
I claim:
In pallets of the kind described, means for retaining pairs of such pallets apart from each other consisting of rounded protuberances formed on parallel edges thereof, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I a'tfix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ANSON J. BENTLEY.
