This adjustment of the eccentric varies the throw of the eccentric without varying the timing thereof. In other words, the maximum throw of the eccentric will always be in the same angular position, and, therefore, the lateral throw of the loopei' may be adjusted without varying the timing of the throw relative to the reciprocations. of the needle. Furthermore, the adjustment'of the throw of the looper is accomplished by positive means. Not only is the eccentric released so that it can be adj usted, but I have provided a screw for accomplishing this adjustment, so that I have means for making the adjustment as well as means for permitting the adjustment of the throw of the looper.
In Fig. 7 of the drawings, l have'shown diagrammatically the path of movement of the looper point in 'different adjusted posi tions. The curved line d-b-c-d indicates one path of movement of the looper, and the curved line awe-6 7' indicates the path of movement of the looper after its throw has been adjusted by shifting the eccentric away from the center of the operating shaft. It will be apparent from this diagrammatic view, that the lateral throw of the looper has been adjusted without in any way varying the timing ofthe looper in its movements into and out of the needle loop. This looper-operating mechanism with the adjusting means, is especially adapted for use .that the looper is given.
