The invention. consists in the novel fea tures of construction hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.

In these drawings a shirt or jersey 1 has the usual openings 2, 2, for the arms, and 3 for the neck, shoulder straps 4, 4, also being provided. The left hand strap 4 is formed in two parts a and b, buttoned or otherwise fastened together. Sleeves may be provided if desired. I take this jersey l of substantially ordinary form widened at the bottom and fit to it a. trunk portion 6, shown in detail in Fig. 4. This trunk portion is 111- scrted within the lower end of the body and stitched or otherwise secured to the body, the linesof stitching being shown at 7 7, on each side, at the top of the leg portions and the upwardly extending central sections 8, 8, of the trunk are stitched as at 9, 9, to the front and rear of the body. The trunk portion may be made in any suitable manner. Great freedom is provided in this arrangement of body and trunk and a minimum of material required, thus lessening the weight of the garment when in the :water by reducing the amount of water absorbing material.

the top of said extensions and the-bottom of said recesses being stitched to. said skirt portion, said stitching being overlapped to prevent rising of the skirt around the swimmers body. i
4. A bathing suit comprising a shirt element and a trunk element, said trunk element being secured to said body element by intermittent stitching in different horizontal planes topermit freedom of the swimmers legs and to prevent rising of the skirt around the swimmers body.
