To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GUY MOORE Gnsr, of

Noroton, Connecticut, -United States of America, a citizen of the United States of America, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cable-Brackets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same. This invention relates to brackets for sup-, porting cables or the like and particularly to those which are located in the manholes ofunderground conduit systems and are capable of being positioned with relation to and for the support of cables extending from the conduits into the manholes.

One of the objects of the invention is to provide a bracket which is positively held in position by means which are readily accessible and speedily manipulated for securing the bracket in place or releasing the same.

Another object is to provide an easily positioned bracket which is positively sustained under the weight of the cable or cables supported thereby.

Further objects and advantages will be hereinafter more particularly described and pointed out in the claims.

For full comprehension, however, of my invention reference must be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar reference characters indicate the same parts and wherein; s

Figure 1 is a vertical section taken through the side of a manhole and illustrating the application of my improved bracket to the bracket support, the locking means being loose; Fig. 2 is a similar view illustrating the bracket locked in position; Fig. 3 is a face view drawn to a reduced scale, of the bracket support and bracket; Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the bracket; and 1hig. 5 is a similar view of the locking memer.

Heretofore the brackets to which this invention particularly relates were each upheld by a bolt located in a vertical slot presented by amember embedded in the side of the manhole and the maintenance of the bolt in position, and therefore the support of the bracket and cable or cables, depended upon the tightening of the bolt head against the slotted member, which support has not been thoroughly satisfactory in use.

7 To overcome the defects of the former type of bracket I have provided one which is positively sustained under the weight of the cable and I will now describe the same.

In the drawings 2 represents the wall of a manhole in which is formed a vertical channel 3 inclosing a bracket support 4 which is flush with the wall and presents a slot 5 disposed longitudinally of and communicates with the channel 3 and within which the bracket is adapted to be inserted all of which is well known and need not be herein described in detail, the function of the slotted bracket support being to permit of the positioning of the bracket relatively to the cable or cables.

Accidental withdrawal of the bracket from its support is prevented by a pin 12 which is adapted to be inserted through the slot 5 and rest upon the extension 10 loosely between the portion 1O of the latter and the inner side of the slotted support 4, the pin being of a length to extend across and beyond the sides .of the slot.

5. A bracket consisting of a curved portion, a contact face, a brace extending from the curved portion to the rear of the contact face, a hook-like member extending from the contact face and webs extending between I the sides of the hook-like member and the contact face.

In a. device for supporting cables and the like, the combination with a wall having a vertical channel therein, a bracket support locatedi in thecliannel, presenting aslot disposedlongitudinally of and in communication with the channel and oppositely disposed notches at the sides of the slot and spaced from each other throughout the length of the latter, of a bracket presenting a contact face bearing against the outer side of the support, lugs upon the contact face and located in said notches, an extension upon the contact face between the lugs and extending through the slot into the channel,

an upwardly extending portion upon said port and inclined inwardly from the top thereof, pin adapted to rest upon said extension and lie across the slot in said support, the middle portion of such pin being depressed on one side and enlarged in one direction to a greater extent than the distance between the inner face of said upwardly extending portion and the inner side of the bracket support and an arm upon said pin and adapted to extend through the slot in 13 such bracket support.
