Description

I. ADELBERG 8! M- J. SINDLER.
COLLAR.
APPLIVCATION m n JULY 31.1914.
Patnted Nov. 14, 1916.
5152s 00., WASHIN end of the outer fold 5 but being provided with a passage ll leading into a substantially circular opening l2 to receive the shank of the button or stud and the upper portion of that end of the fold 6 beingrounded and extended beyond the end of the outer fold. The end 14 of the inner fold 6 is hooked shaped as at 16, the hook extending downward instead of upward as in the case of Figs. 1 and 2. In adjusting this form of collar the shank of the button or stud is passed through the channel 11 and seated in the substantially circular opening l2 after which the end 1% is slipped into the slit 13 and the hook end 16 engaged over the bottom end of the slit securely holding the parts in the position shown in Fig. 3.
It will be observed, that one of the terminals of the slits 13, 13, forms the engaging edge of the respective hook,'in the slit 1?) the upper terminal and in slit 13 the lower terminal, and these slits are inclined from these hook engaging terminals toward the adjacent end of the collar. This particular arrangement of each slit, allows a large portion of its slit engaging hook to pass through the slit and lie against the inner face of the inner fold, thereby forming an drawn between the folds.
From the foregoing it will be observed that we have entirely dispensed with closed buttonholes in our improved collar and while we have particularly described the construction and location of the various parts, it will be obvious that changes may be made therein within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
Having thus fully described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A collar comprising an inner and outer fold, said inner fold being provided with an integral hook-like attaching means at each end thereof and which are formed by shaping the extremities of the fold so that they will lie in alinement with said fold, and a slit formed in one end of the fold for engaging with the hook-like means on the other end, the other hook-like means being formed and located to engage a collar button in the shirt for attaching the front of the collar to the shirt.
In testimony whereof we our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
ISAAC ADELBERG. MAX J. SINDLER.
