W. J. BRADSHAW.`
` `lmprovementjn Earth Cloets.-
` No. 120,367. Patentedocr. 31,1871. f
PATENT CEEICE.
WILLIAM J. BRADSHAW, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN EARTH-CLOSETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,367, dated October 31, 1871.
To all lwhom fit may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. BRADsHAW,
of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and` State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in EartlrCloset-s, of Which the following is a full and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, and in Which- Figure l represents a plan of the attachment embodying my invention; Fig. 2, a section ofthe dispenser; Fig. 3, avieW of the moving grate; Fig. 4, the bar and universal joints, which connect the bracket to the arm C.
My invention consists of a swinging dispenser for the purpose of conveying the earth or other disinfectant from the reservoir to the place of deposit, to which is attached a moving' grate, Which opens at the proper place for the discharge of the disinfectant; also a novel mode of charging said dispenser and of operating the same.
A is the dispenser, having a grated bottom, the bars of which are made in a V-form, With the apex upward for the purpose of fully discharging the disinfectant. B is the moving grate, the bars of which close the apertures in the bottom of the dispenserA for the purpose of reta-ining the disinfectant until required to be discharged, When the said grate is made to move,
opening the bottom of the dispenser and al1oW- ing the free discharge of the disinfectant. The grate B is operated by brackets H. C is an arm, to which the dispenser A is attached, moving on a fixed pintal, a, and conveying the dispenser from the reservoir to the place of discharge and back, as required. Dis a bracket to be attached to the under side of the lid. w E is a bar connected at one end to the bracletfD'and at the other end to the arm C, by universal joints I) b, for the purpose of conveying the required motion from the lid to the arm C. F is a grating in the bottom of the reservoir similar to the bottom of the dispenser, with a moving grate, G, Fig. 3, for the purpose of charging the dispenser.
Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The grating F, in combination with the dis penser A and grate B, substantially as described.
2. 1n combination with the dispenser A and grate B, the connecting-joints b b, as described, and for the purpose set forth.
3. The grating F, dispenser A, grate B, connectingjoints b b, bar E, and brackets H, all arranged as described.
