Y Be it known that I, ELIZABETH MILES, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the-'city of Evanston, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Adjustable Brassire, of which'the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a certain new and useful adjustable brassire, and hasfor its object the provision of aconstruction of this character especially adapted for use during maternity. A

The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The preferred form of construction, as illustrated in the drawing, comprises a garment made up in three parts, namely a rear portion 4 and two front portions 5, said.

portions being secured together by lines of lacing 6 positioned under the arm holes of the garment. The sides of the arm holes of the garment are extended somewhat and are provided with a plurality of buttons 7 and button holes 8 by means of which the garment may be adjustably secured over the shoulders. The upper front portions of the garment portions 5 are extended at 9 to overlap at the front to cover thebust and the lower portions thereof are still further extended at10 and securing straps 11 are se cured to these extended portions 10.. Slits 12 are provided in the lower side portions of the garment and buckles 13 are arranged adjacent saidslits to receive and secure the ends of straps 11. Suitable stiffening bones or steels 14 maybe arranged in the garment, as desired, the same being, however, preferably of comparativelylight and iiexible material. v f

The garment is placed on the wearer in the usual manner by inserting the .arms

through the arm holes formed by buttoning the button holes over one or the other ofthe buttons 7. The front portions of the gar-` ment are then overlapped, as indicated in Fig. 1, the inner strap 11 being passed outwardly through the corresponding slit 12 and secured to the corresponding buckle 13.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be liminted to the precise details of 'construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of suchvaiiations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having described my invention what I claim as new anddesire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A garment of the class described, laced under the. arms, having adjustable arm holes, open at the front and overlapped to cover the bust, the lower portions of said overlapped portions being extended; straps secured to said extended portions; and buckles on said garment for said straps, there being slits in the lower Side portions of said garment to permit the passage of said straps, substantially as described.

Al garment of the class described comprisingv a rear portion and two front portions, having arm holes formed at the junctures between said portions and said portions being adjustably'secured together under the arm holes by lacings; extended sides to said arm holes, said sides being provided witha plurality of button holes and buttons, the upper front portions of the front portions of the garment being extended sui'lieiently to overlap to cover the bust and the lower front portions being still further extended; securing straps secured to said lower extensions7 there being slits in Athe lower side portions of the garment arranged to permit the passage of said straps; and

buckles secured t0 said garment at the rear 10 of said slits, substantially as described.
