Description

NITEN STATES PATENT FEICE.
ALBERT D. JUDD, 0E NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN FLOWER-POTS.
` To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT D. J CDD, of New Haven, in the county oi' New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Flower-Pots5 and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this speciiication, and repre sents, in
Figure l, a side View; Fig. 2, a vertical central section; Fig. 3, one of the panels detached; Fig. 4,'a top view of the band or cap inverted; Fig. 5, the bottom detached; and in Fig. 6, the bracket for supporting the pot.
This invention relates to an improvement in the construction of a iiower-pot or case-that is to say, an ornamental inclosure within which a common flower-pot may be placed, givin gto the pot an ornamental appearance; and it consists in a pot or case formed from several panels or sections of cast metal secured together, as more fully hereafter described.
By preference, I make the pot or case oi' polygonal form, formed from several sections or panels A, one of which is shown detached in Fig. 3. The outer surface of the panels may be ornamented in any desirable manner. The bottom B (see Fig. 5) is formed with a channel, a, corresponding to each side, the lower end d of the panel formed to set into one ofthe channels. The cap or ring C is also constructed with a similar channel, b, and the upper end e of the panel formed to iit the channel in the cap. Several of the panels may be formed in one piece, if desired, and twoq or more of the panels are cast with a projecting stud, f, at the upper and lower end, and the base and cap perforated accordingly, so that, when the panels are set into the base and the cap set thereon, the projections f will eX- tend through the corresponding perforations in the said base and cap, and the said studs riveted down thereon, as seen in Fig. 2, to secure the parts together. I prefer to make a downward projection, E, at the center, in the bottom, which raises the pot, and support the pot from this center upon a' base or bracket, F, as seen in Fig. 2, the pot or case being set upon the base so as to be turned on a pivot thereon; or it may be placed in the pivot or' a bracket, as in Fig. 6, it being a convenience to turn the pot without raising it.
`By this construction a highly ornamental article is produced, which, if not used as a substitute for ilower-pots, at least covers the defects of such pots.
I claim as my invention- As a new article of manufacture, a iiower-pot, consisting of several panels or sections, the base B and cap (l constructed to be united together by studs or rivets formed on said sections, substantially as described.
ALBERT D. J UDD.
