GARMENT-FORM.
7 Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 12, 1915. Serial No. 7,908.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ABRAHAM ABEL SIMON, a subject of the Czar of Russia, re-
siding at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Forms, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates togarment forms and hangers and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a combined form and hanger of the character indicated which is of simple and cheap structure by reason of the fact that it'is cut from a single blank of heavy paper or similar material and may be folded and secured whereby the intermediate portion of the form and hanger is bulged'or swelled thus distending the bosom of a garment when the same is in position upon the form.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of the combined form and hanger showing the parts thereof folded. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the form of the device as shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of a modified form of the device. Fig. 4: is a plan view of another modified form of the device. Fig. 5 is a plan view of still another modified form of the device. Fig. 6 is a plan view of still another modified form of the device.
In the form of the invention as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing the combined garment hanger and form iscut from a blank of material 1 having at its upper portion incisions 2 cut therein and which incisions practically divide the upper portion of the said blank into three sections indicated at 3, 4: and 5. The sections 3 and 5 are alike and consequently a description of one will answer for both. The material which constitutes the sections 3 and 5 is provided at the upper ends of the said sections with hooks 6 and each said section is provided at its outer edge with a notch 7 located below the hook 6. The section 1 is provided at its upper edge with curved notches 8 thematerial at the outer sides of which constitute lugs or tongues 9. When the sections are folded to swell or bulge the intermediate portion of the blank the sections 3 and 5 are bent behind the section 4 and the hooks 6 are brought into register one with the other as most clearly illus trated in Fig. 1 of the drawing. The inner portions of the said hooks may then be passed over a nail or other suitable supportmg device for suspending the form and garment placed upon the same- After the sections 3 and 5 are bent behind the section t the notches 8 are engaged in the notches 7 whereby the said sections 3, 1 and 5 are locked together and the parts remain in the relative positions shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing. I
In the form of the invention as shown in Patented June 13,1916. I
Fig. 3 of the drawing the section 4: isprovided at its upper portion with a slit 10 through which the upper endsof the sections 3 and 5 may be passed and the notches 7 of the said sections may engage the ends 7 of the said slit whereby the hooks 6 at the upper ends of the sections 3 and 5 are held in register with each other. v
In the form of the invention as shown in Fig. 3 the upper ends of the sections 3 and 5 are passed through the slit 10 in the section tand the notches 7 at the edges of the sections 3 and 5 engage the ends of the slit 10. The section 4: is provided at its upper ,end with an opening 11 which may receive a nail, hook or other supporting device.
In the form of the invention as shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing the'section 4 is provided at its upper end with a hook 12 and the said section is provided at intermediate points with tongues '13 adapted to engage in slits14: provided in sections 3 and 75..
In the form of the'invention as shown in Fig. 6 one of'the'sections 5 is provided in the vicinity of its upper end with a tongue 15 which is adapted to enter a slit 16 provided in the upper portion of the section 3. The hooks 6 as shown in Fig. 6 are adapted to overlap and register one with the other and the hook at the upper portion of the section 5 is provided with an extension 17 located at the base or shank of the hook and which may be used as a handle for conveniently and easily directing and inserting the tongue 9 into the slit 16.
In all of the forms of the invention-it will be seen that a blank is provided which may be folded into a garment form and hanger and that the blanks are provided with incisions which divide the upper portions thereof into three sections the outer ones of which in each blank are similar to each other. Inall of the forms of the invention except that shown in Fig. 6 means .is provided for securing-the outer sections with A articles upon e porting devices. 1 Having described the invention what is relation to the intermediate section While in the form of the invention as shown in Fig. 6 the outer sections are connected one withthe other. -This device may be con- 7 p veniently used for holding shirts, coats or similar articles inform while the articles are' n boxes or cases 'or'the device maybe used as a hanger'for supporting the; sald pegs or other suitable supclaimed is A combined'garment hanger and form comprising a blank having at its upper edge in- 5 cisions which converge toward each other at their inner ends and which divide the upper portion of the blank ,into an intermediate and outer sections, said intermediate sec- -tionhav1ng curved notches at its upper edges the inner. ends of which are spaced I from: each other for a greater distance than copies ofthis patent may bc obtainedfor their outer ends and thereby providing tongues having pointed ends and convexed opposite sides said tongues being located at the corner portions of the said intermediate section, the outer sections being provided at their outer edges with notches disposed in lines which intersect the tongues between the bases and ends thereof, said notches adapted to receive the inner portions of the 5-" five cents each, by addressing the "Commissioner of Patents.
