IMPROVEMENT IN EYELETS FOR ATTAGHING BUTTONS T0 TEXTILE FABRICS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,640, dated August 29, 1871.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARK M. ILATT, of Waterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have, as I believe, invented new and useful Improvements in Eyelets for Attaching Buttons to Textile Fabrics; and I do hereby decla-re the following to be a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the drawing that accompanies and forms part of this specilication.
Figure l presents the two parts of my eyelet separate and the same put together, forming the article complete; Fig. 2, longitudinal section of the saine, exhibiting the manner of attaching the parts 5 Fig. 3, some of these eyelets in their place with the other parts of the. button.
A represents the stem or tubular part of the eyelet; B, a cap to one end of the stein A, so formed and attached as to provide an extended fla-n ge to that end 5 c, a ange spreading outwardly upon that end of the tubular part A which is to receive the cap B, e, the portion of the cap B which is turned inwardly and made to overlap the iange c, and thus fasten the said cap B to the part A; F, front plate of a double-plated metallic button; g, a convex or con e-sh aped swell upon the central portion of the inner or rear side of this plate F; H, the rear plate of this button; I, the outer plate of a button of different form from F; J, the rear plate belonging to I.

These eyelets will be found very desirable not only as affording greater strength and more desirable finish in use in connection with the two styles of buttons exhibited in the drawing, but in use with any others which have the eyelet inserted at the time the button is attached to the fabric.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, an eyelet, constructed as described and set forth-that is, of tubular stem and cap united, as speciiied.
