APPLICATION man OCT-'8. 1915.

JJAMES WATERS'ION, F OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA.
TRUCK 0R CARRIER.
Specification of Letters Iatent.
. Application filed October 8, 1915. Serial No. 54,825.
To all whom 2'25 may concern Be it known that I, James WATERSTON, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of Ottawa, Province of Ontario,
Dominion of Canada, have invented certain and the objects of the invention are to facilitate in positioning the goods on the truck or carrier, to admit of the carrier being adjusted to suit goodsof different dimensions, to render it easily transported from one place to another, and generally to simplify the construction and adapt the several parts to better perform the functions, required of them, and it consists essentially of the im-. proved construction particularly described and set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings forming part of the same.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the truck or carrier having a display stand mounted thereon. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is aside elevationof the truck or carrier with a barrel mounted thereon. Fig. 4. is a perspective view of the clamps mounted on the carrier.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawing, A represents the improved truck or carrier which consists of a metallic disk 10 provided with a plurality of radially extending slots 11 therein, the said disk being operatively mounted on a plurality of rollers or casters 12 of any usual or convenient description.
. This truck is designed to be adjusted to suit difierent types-of goods to be carried .unique thereby, and to this end I preferably pro-.
vide an adjustable clamping means 13 slidably mounted in the radially extending slots 11 and capable of being positioned at the will -of the operator. This clamp is of construction and consists of an angle bracketl provided on the front end with a downw rdly extending tongue 15 designed to slidably engage the radially extending slots ll'and is further provided with an integ'ral screw 16 also located in the saidslots and designed to engage with the washer 17 located. on the lower side of the disk 10.

} Patented May 16. 1916."
This washer is ofthe non rotatable type and o is provided on the front edge'with a recess 18 adapted to engage with-the tongue 15 whilethe screw 16 makes threaded engage ment with the winged nut 19. It will be readily seen that this clamping means is capable of being primarily adjusted radially,
and to permit of a final adjustment being made so that the goods mounted on the carrier may be securely positioned I preferably provide the angle memberld with a-tlireaded orifice 20 with which the adjusting screw 21 engages.
In the embodiment illustrated in Figs; l
and 2,'th e truckis utilized for the purpose of carrying a dlsplay stand B such as is used in millinery and like stores, and it will be readily appreciated that by providing a threaded spindle 22 which makes threaded engagement with the orifice 23 in the middle of the disk 10 the truck may be designed to be'rotated with the said spindle so that the goods displayed on the stand are readily brought to the attention ofcustomers.
When this carrier is utilized in windows of stores the spindle 22 is provided on the lower end with a pulley 24 designed to be driven by'a belt or the like from any suitablepower so that the carrier A can be made to constantly revolve, thereby bringing to the notice of intending purchasers the beauty and style of the goods carried. by the stand B.
- In Fig. 3 the spindle 22 is dispensed with, the barrel being mounted on the carrier A and suitably secured thereon by adjustingthe clamping means 13 so that the screw21 engages the periphery of the lower end of the barrel.
When this carrier is utilized for shipping case goods it is provided on its periphery with a plurality of orifices 25 such as are illustrated in Fig. 1, with which"orifices the handle 26 is designed to be engaged; It will readily be seen that it is only necessary for the attendant to engage the bifurcated end of the handle 26 with the said orifices whereupon the position of the carrier A may be altered as found convenient.
' The merit of such a carrier will be readily appreciated when itis remembered that in hotels orlike places floors are liable to sufier in' consequence of pails or the like being drawn across the same whereas by the use of v means for rotatably supporting the disk, a'
such a carrier to carry the saidpalls it is quite impossible to damage the floor in any way.
As many changes could be made in the above construction widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scopemf the claims, constructed Without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A carrier of prising a metallic disk provided with a plurality of radially extending slots therein,
plurality of clamping means mounted in said slots, means for making a primary and bodily adjustment of the clamping means, and means for making a subsequent and final adjustment of the clamping means.
2. A device of theclass described includ- Oopies or this patent may be obtained for and many apparently the class described comfive cents each, by addressing the I with said clamp and provided with a recess adapted to be engaged by said tongue.
3. A carrler or the class described con1- prising a disk provided with a plurality of radially extending orifices, a plurality of angle brackets provided with downwardly.
extending tongues slidably engaging the said slots, a threaded screw on the angle bracket, a washer provided with recess adapted. to engage the said tongues, and a radially ex tending screw making threaded engagement with the angle bracket.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
