1517857 60. 1 ,fatentgg Apr. 11,1916. 1 1 I waited I Specification of Letters Patent.-
Application filed August 3, 1914. Serial No. 854,658.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrn SOROKIN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Des Moines, county of Polk, and State of Iowa,
have invented anew and useful Improve ment in Ironing-Board-Cloth Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide means for easily and quickly adjusting, and. holding in place, the clean cloths which areplaced on ironing boards.
My invention relates particularly to the I art of ironing clothes, usually employed in constructed from a stri laundries and the like, but it may be applied with equal success to all private work;
My invention consists of certain details of construction hereinafter. set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which-- Figure 1 shows an inverted plan view of an ironing boardfitted out with my device;
- Fig. 2' shows an inverted plan view of my device, and Fig. 3 shows a detail view of one of the clasp members which I employ.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the reference numeral 10 is used to indicate an ironingboard and the numeral 11 a cloth which is designed to be stretched over the top of the ironing board and secured thereto, said cloth being' for the usual purpose of cleanliness.
spective clasp members depend from the body portion. 12 and, as the said body portion is secured to the ironing board, it is obvious that my device is never removed therefrom and is always ready for operation. y
The operation of my device is so obvious that detail description thereof will not be given.
The body portion 12 of my 'device may be constructed of wire or of metal stamped inany desired conformation without changing my invention, for my purpose is to construct such a body portion as may be conveniently secured to the ironing board for the purpose of providing a proper anchor for the springs and means-to hold them in position on the ironing board when the clasp members are released from the cloth. It is also obvious that the particular form of claspmember may be changed without altermg my. invention as the construction shown for the clasp member is merely for convenience, the purpose of the clasp member bein SKI-1P1}, to properly engage a cloth and hold it in position.
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patentof the United States is: A cloth holder for ironing boards comprising a body adapted to be secured to the under face-of an ironing board and provided with laterally extending, apertured cars, a spring engaged at one end in each apertured ear of the body, and a clasp member carried by the opposite end of each spring for engaging the ironing board cloth.
2. A cloth holder for ironing boards comprising a body portion secured to the under surface of the ironing board. a plurality of coil spr ngs loosely secured t ereto; a clasp member provided with upwardly and an in- 'wardl turned point hooking members de sign'e to be secured in the cloth, and also provided with a depending lug for convenand described;
3. Acloth holder for ironing boards comprising a body in the form of a strip having one end bifurcated andprovided with laterally extending ears, said ears and bifurshown so A cations being apeftured, the opposite end of I ofleach 5 ring for engaging with the irenthe strip body belng provided with a pluingboar cloth.
rality of apertures a coiled spring en aged Q in each of the apertures of the body with JOSEPH SOROKIN' 5 the springs engaged in the aforesaid 0ppo-- Witnesses: I site end of the body being divergently re- J. CHASE R011,
lated, and a clasp fastened to the outer end LIZZIE HENNTN'I! I
