a anxmwtoa Jamwfiohlim attomwq JAMES IBOHLIIVI, OF MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA.
RING-HOLDER.
Application filed February 13, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES BoHLIM, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Michigan City, in the county of Laporte and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ring-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
T his invention relates to ring holders and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a ring holder of simple and durable structure adapted to be attached to the wearing apparel and which may be used for holding a ring when the same is removed from the finger of the hand. The advantage of such an attachment adapted to be applied to wearing apparel is that when it is necessary to remove a finger ring from the finger for washing the hand or for other purposes the ring may be applied to the ring holder and thus kept ready at hand upon the wearer and there is no danger of the ring being lost or pilfered while removed from the hand and placed upon a fixed object as frequently occurs.
IVith the above object in view the holder comprises a plate having a pin attached thereto which may be used for securing the plate to an article of apparel. A hanger is supported by the plate and isprovided at one end with an opening over which is located a spring tongue. Vhen it is desired to apply the ring to the holder a side portion of the ring is pressed against the tongue and passed through the opening whereby the ring may be lodged upon the hanger and when desired to remove the ring the tongue is pressed away from the opening when the ring may be readily removed from the hanger through the opening.
In the accompanying draw1ng:F1gure 1 is a front elevation of the holder. Fig. 2 1s a rear view of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
The ring holder comprises a plate 1 upon which may be inscribed the owners name or which may be ornamented with any suitable design as desired. A pin 2 is attached to the back of the plate 1 and may be used for Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 8,094.
the purpose of securing the plate to an article of apparel. A hanger 3 is attached to the plate 1 and is provided at one end with an opening 4 and a spring tongue 5 is located within the hanger 3 and is secured at one end to the hanger and normally lies transversely across the opening 4.
When the holder is applied to an article of apparel and it is desired to support a ring on the same a side portion of the ring is passed through the opening 4: and the ring is pressed against the tongue 5 whereby the tongue is moved away from the opening and the ring is lodged upon the intermedi ate portion of the hanger 3. When so positioned the ring is carried about with the owner and there is little danger of its being lost. hen it is desired to remove the ring from the holder the tongue 5 is pressed away from the opening 4 and the ring may then be readily moved along the intermediate portion of the hanger and detached from the same by being passed through the said opening.
From the above description taken in conjunction with the accompanving drawings it will be seen that a ring holder of simple and durable structure is provided and that the same may also serve its function as an ornamental attachment to wearing apparel.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A holder comprising a plate, a pin located at one side of the plate, for securing the same to an article of apparel. a hanger carried by the plate and provided at one end of the plate with an openin and a spring tongue integrally attached to the hanger and normally lying at an angle to the hanger and across the opening with its free end disposed toward the plate, the plate, the hanger and the tongue lying approximately in the same plane.
In testimonv whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES BOHLIM.
Witnesses M. BoDINE, S. Bonnvn.
