To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, JOHN H. CARR, a white male citizen'of the United States, residing at Mount Olive, in the county of lVayne and State of North Carolina, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combination Curtain-Pole and Shade Brackets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention contemplates the provision of a combined curtain pole and shade bracket, with means for permitting the device to be quickly associated with a window casing and removed therefrom when desired without injuringor marring the face of the window casing.

Other objects will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described. V

In the drawing forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and where- Figure 1 is a front view of a portion of the window casing showing the application of my device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the blank constituting the device.

As shown in the drawing the combined curtain holder and shade bracket is constructed from a single blank of suitable material as shown in Fig. 3, and comprises an elongated strip 6, and a substantially L-shaped extension 7 projecting from one side thereof at a point approximately midway of its length. The extension 7 is bent downwardly at its point of juncture with the strip 6, providing a shade bracket, the laterally projecting arm 9 of which being suitably slotted as at 10, wherein the opposite ends of the shade roller are journaled in the ordinary and well known manner. The strip 6 is bent upwardly on a line in a vertical plane with the rear edge of the shade bracket 7 forming a brace 11 for the latter, and adapted to bear against the window casing, being secured thereto in the manner presently described, while the portion of the strip in advance of the bracket 7 is bent rearwardly upon itself defining a curtain pole supporting loop 12, terminally secured by means of a bolt 13 passed through the body portion and terminal of said strip, and with which the thumb nut 14: is associated whereby the circumference of the loop 11 may be varied to accommodate different size poles.

The upper end of the brace 11 is bent to provide an outwardly extending flange 15 through which thefastening rod 16 is passed for steadying the latter. The lower end of the rod is threaded and extended through the strip 6 at one side of the bracket 7, nuts 17 being associated therewith above and below the strip for securing the rod in any desired adjusted position, it being manifest that the rod may be adjusted vertically to accommodate itself to window casings of varying dimensions. The upper end of the rod terminates to provide a hook 18 adapted to be driven a short distance in the upper edge of the casing to support the bracket and holder in proper position upon the win dow casing.

Arranged between the uppermost nut 17 and the strip 6 is a plate 19 terminally bulged as at 20, and between the said bulged portion and the strip 6 is secured a horizontally disposed rod 21, having a hook terminal 22 adapted to engage the outer edge of the window casing with a view of preventing lateral movement of the device upon the window. As is obvious the rod 21 may be readily adjusted to accommodate windows of varying widths by simply loosening the uppermost nut 17 and sliding the rod in the proper direction within the bulged portion 20. From the foregoing it will be manifest that I have devised a device of the class in question, designed for use in either the capacity of a curtain pole holder or shade bracket, and capable of quick adjustment and association with the window casing.

It is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation and therefore the same has been omitted.

What is claimed is 1. A device of the class described constructed from a single blank of material bent to provide a depending bracket, a forwardly extending loop, means adjustably securing one terminal of said loop to vary the size of the latter, a brace rising from the other terminal thereof, and means for securing the device upon the window.

2. A device of the class described comprising an elongated strip of material, and an angular extension projecting from one side thereof and adapted to be bent downwardly to provide a bracket, the material in advance of said bracket being formed to provide a loop, the material in the rear of said bracket being bent to provide a vertically disposed brace, and means for securing said device to associated with said device and adapted to.

A device of the class described comprising a single blank of material bent to provide a depending bracket, a forwardly extending pole supporting loop, a brace rising from one terminal'of said loop, saidbrace being formed to provide an outwardly extending flange, a rod passed through said flange and adjustably associated with said loop, and said rod having a hook terminal adapted to engage the upper edge of the window casing.

5. A window shade bracket and curtain pole support comprising an elongated strip of material, a substantially L-shaped extension projecting from one edge of said strip approximately midway of its length, said extension being adapted to be bent downwardly to provide a shade bracket, a portion of said strip at one side of the bracket being extended upwardly at right angles thereto defining a brace, the remaining portion of said strip on the opposite side of the bracket being extended forwardly and bentv upon itself to provide a curtain pole supporting loop, means for ad ust1ng the s1ze ofsa1d loop, and means for securlng the device upon a window.
