Be it known that we, JOSEPH D. EL- ninooi: and ll'aLTi-m il'. Genn. citizens of the lnited States. residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of lenns \'lvania, have invented new and'useful Improvements in Collapsible Barrels, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in the construction of barrels, hogshcads, etc.

ln carrying out our invention it is our purposel to produce a barrel constructed 'of detachable sections which may be easily and quickly put together to form a complete barrel which shall be water and air tight and which sections may be alsoreadily removed and collapsed to produce a comparatively small package either for shipmentor storage.

It is also our purpose to provide a knock down barrel which shall embody thedesirable features of simplicity in construction, cheapness and thorough etiiciency.

With the above and other objects in view, the improvement resides in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts set fort-h in the following specification and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

. The numerals 23 designate the heads for thebarrel. Each of these sections comprises a member having an annular lange'Q-l, the

said iiange adapted 'to snugly engage with the outer periphery of the barrel at the ends thereof, .and theinner faces ol:.each of the heads is provided with a gasket Q5 which is held in place by a. flat ring '2G that is secured to the said head. One or both of the heads is provided with a bung opening, the same being in the nature of a flanged sleeve '27, the liange of the sleeve may be provided with a suitable gasket and secured to the said head in any desired or preferred manner. The sleeve 27 may have its interior threaded and may be closed by a threaded plug '28. If desired, a wooden or compressible plug may be securedl in the sleeve. Y
