To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUDOLPH. l'limnuu, a citizen of the United States, residing at Schenectady, county of Schenectady, State of New York have invented certain new and useful. Improvements in Turbine Bucket-V fheels, of which the following i a specification.
The present invention relates to rotors for elastic fluid turbines, and particularly to the formation of the bucket bases a'ud the as sembling of the same in the Wheel.
At the present time it is the common practioe to provide the rotor with an undercut slot in the rim into which the bucket bases are introduced through suitable openings in the side or face of the rim, these openings being afterward closed by means of locking pieces or notch blocks. The number of these openings varies with the diameter of the Wheel, from tvo to eight being usually found necessary.
According to the present invention I a oid the use of side or face openings for the introduction of the buckets by forming the bucket buses in such a manner that they I edgewise into the slot and then turned i to engaging position.
For :2. consideration. of what I believe to be novel. and my invention attention is directed to the accompanying specification and the claims appended thereto.

By avoiding the use of side slots for the introduction of the buckets 1 ans. enabled to increase the eiliciency of the rotor since in place of the locking pieces there will be buckets. According to. this invention but one locking piece Will be required. This may take any suitable form and will be located between the first and last buckets to be inserted as will be obvious.
A turbinerotor constructed according to this invention has the further advantage that it may be more quickly and easily assembled, and much more readily repaired. as no special tools are required. This is oi particular advantage in case it is required to reblade the machine after being installed.
