Be it known that 1, AUGUST MORGANFIELD, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Junction City, in the county of Gear-y and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Recreasers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is a collar recreasing device believed to be a new article of manufacture and the object is to provide an implement which, though simple in construction, is effective in so reshaping the fold of what is known as a turndown collar that the necktie when placed within such collar may be readily pulled either way around the neck to bring the exposed ends to the desired relative length. I attain this object by means of the construction hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of one form of my invention in position to reform the fold; Fig. 2, a perspective view of one form of my device, and Fig. 3, a like view-of another form thereof.

Like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in Figs. 1 and 2 which represent the same form of the device, while Fig. 3 in so far as it differs in form from that of Fig. 2 will be separately described. The principle, however, is the same in both and still other forms of construction are possible without varying from the principle embodied in my invention.

Referring to Figs. 1 and 2. A single piece of sheet metal, preferably about one inch wide and five inches long, its exact width and length being immaterial, is folded lengthwise in the middle, a narrow slit 4 is made lengthwise of the flat surface from one end to a little more than the width of the deepest collars in vogue. Lips l and 2 are shaped from the two separable pieces thus formed by curving them from their bases outward and upward as at 5, the space therebetween being approximately that of the full thickness of the ordinary collar. One such lip is sufficiently longer than the other to admit of its being horizontally turned inward at its free end, thus forming the projection or shoulder 3. The tongue strip 7, Whichis pressed together into practically one piece, is shortened so as to lit up in under the fold of the collar 8 when the lips I and 2 embrace opposite sides of the collar and the shoulder 25 is lapped over the top of such fold. The lower portion 6 of the device is used asa handle.

Referring to Fig. 3. A single strip of sheet metal, preferably about one half inch wide and sixteen inches long, the exact width and length, as before, being immaterial, is doubled crosswise nearly midway of its length, forming the tongue lel, the two portions 12 and 13, of which, for the purpose of symmetry or lightness, may be somewhat reduced in width. The two lips 9 and 10 are curved outward and upward to parallel each other and inclose therebetween the tongue 14, the looped ends 11 forming springs. lhe longer side 10 is turned inward, as in the other-form of construction forming the projection or shoulder 3.

To use my device the tongue is inserted from the under side between the folds of the collar with one lip on each side of such collar and shoulder 8 resting on the top of the fold cf the collar. .Then, by passing the device in that position along the length of the collar the fold is reformed and enlarged so that when the collar with the tie therein is placed around the neck in the usual manner, the tie may be easily slipped backward and forward around the neck as desired, thus overcoming the great annoyance heretofore frequently experienced in the adjustment of the tie because of the collar pinching it.

It will readily be seen that a device of this character withoutthe shorter lip would still accomplish the purpose for which my invention is designed, but the construction shown and described is considered preferable.

What I claim is i An article of manufacture of the class described comprising a tongue adapted to be placed within the fold of a collar, and an elongated lip provided with a shoulder projection adapted to overlap such fold.
