To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Crrars'rornsn J. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Identifying Criminals and other Persons through Combination-Picture, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in devices for identifying criminals and other persons through combination-picture, and has forits 0b]e(5l3 a photograph holder adjustably mounted on a base in which the photograph of the person to be identified is held, and a plurality of transparent frames on which are mounted, painted, or otherwise applied, representations of hats, caps, suits of clothing and other articles of wearing apparel which are arranged to be placed over the picture, and to properly conform with the picture so as to properly dress the per-v son in various "costumes for identification.

The transparent frames'19, are provided with hinges 20, of the pin type, and on the box is also provided a corresponding hinge member in which the pin 21 of the hinge is permitted to be inserted when placing the transparent plates imposition for use.

It has ofttimes occurred that in identifying criminals, the person wishing to make the identification may not recognize the criminal by viewing the photograph taken by the Bertillion system, but by placing a hat, cap, or body garment over the photograph the facial expressions is changed and by that manner the person may be identified for the reason that the person may have recognized the criminal by having a certain color or suit or certain style of hen ar. When the device is not in use the identification lates are removed and placed inside of the on out of the way.

Having fully described my invention what I claim is 1.
