Description

Patented Aug. 9, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE COCOON SUN SWEAT SUIT Chan J. Kim, Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii Application October 6, 1947, Serial No. 778,075
1 Claim.
beneficial to a persons body and many people are constant visitors to Turkish baths for the purpose of obtaining a treatment therein.
With the covering provided by the invention, a person can obtain a good sweat without the use or cost of a Turkish bath, and still obtain the same benefits therefrom.
Ofiice workers or swimmers or sunbathers can don one of these coverings and in a short period of time reap the beneficial efiects of a good sweat that is obtainable by the use of the covering.
With the above and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of an embodiment of the invention in place on a human body;
Figure 2 is a front or top plan view of Figure 1 and Figure 3 is an elevatlonal view of the device in use with the person therein in sitting position.
Referring more in detail to the drawing, the embodiment of the invention is generally designated by the reference numeral 5, and comprises a covering similar in all respects to a cocoon. The covering is made of a tough, flexible transparent plastic material having a head and trunk portion 6, to which is attached integral therewith, the leg portions 1 and 8 respectively.
Secured to the leg portions I and 8, respectively, in any well known manner, are the boot or foot portions 9 and ID respectively, which are made of a heavy canvas or soft leather to permit a person wearing the cover to walk about if desired.
Positioned in the head portion in alinement with the persons eyes, is an elliptical shaped eye shade II which is secured in place in any well known manner.
The device is supposed to be used in the outdoors in the direct rays of the sun so the eyeshade is used to protect the persons eyes from the glare of the sun.
Entrance is gained to the cover by means of the slide fastener l2 operating on the tracks l3 2 in the conventional manner. The fastener I2 has the pull I4 positioned on the interior of the cover so that the fastener can be operated by a person enclosed in the cover.
Should the air within the cover become stagnant, the slide fastener which, when the tracks are closed, is in alinement with the persons nose, can be opened slightly to permit breathing of the outside air. This, however, does not admit sufficient air to prevent the person from obtaining a good sweat.
While in the covering, the person can recline as shown in Figures 1 and 2, sit down as shown in Figure 3, or walk as desired. The boot portion prevents wearing of the covering while walking therein.
There has thus been provided, a device which 7 is accessible at all times when it is desired to obtain a good sweat, since it is light and can be easily carried. In use, it will function in the same manner as a Turkish bath, and give the same beneficial result.
It is handy for people who desire to lose weight by this method, and is easily cleaned so that more than one person can use it at diflerent times without danger of contamination from its previous occupant.
It is believed that from the foregoing description, the construction and use, as well as the advantages of the invention will beapparent to those skilled in the art, and it is to be understood that changes in the minor details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be made, without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim,
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A health suit of the character described comprising a transparent plastic covering of a size to fit a human body, said covering having a head and trunk portion and two leg portions, a sunshade in said head portion, canvas feet portions on said leg portions and fastening means permitting the entrance and exit of said body from said covering.
