Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 28, 1915.
Application filed March 27, 1915. Serial No. 17,419.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN A. BAERML citizen of the United States, residing at Shickshinny, in the county ofLuzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fob- Guards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in guards for fobs for use in connection with watches and the object in view is to produce a simple and leiiicient device of this nature so arranged that the fob may be held securely to the edge of the pocket with the watch connected to the fob in the usual way, thus serving as a guard against losing the fob or watch from the pocket.
Thel invention comprises a simple and eflicient device of this nature having various details oi' construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view showing the application of my invention, Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view on line 2-2 of Fig. l, and
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3-`3 of Fig. 1. y
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a clasp having a spring plate B which is fastened to the inner face and forms a part of the clasp, one-end of said plate being held flat against the casing of the clasp and provided with spurs D, while the other arm of the plate, designated by letter F, is also provided with spurs, which sets of spurs cooperate to engage over the marginal edge of the pocket I'I. An angle lever, designated by letter I, is pivotally mounted ina slot in the clasp and its short end is adapted, when the lever is tilted, to throw the clamping plate in engaging relation with the pocket to securely hold the same in place. A fob N has a chain connection O with an eye A of the clasp A.
K designates an inverted U-shaped member, similar in construction to the casing of the clasp A but without the angle lever and is adapted to iit over the edge of the pocket as shown, and a chain S connects an eye K of said member with the clasp A. A watch chain T is connected to an eye upon the member Kas shown, said chain T being of proper length to allow the watch to be held in the pocket in the manner shown.
In applying the device, the clasp carrying the fob is securely held to the edge of the pocket, thus insuring the same against loss, while the watch yis suspended in the pocket by means of the chain hanging from the member K and, by reason of the chain connection between the member K and the clasp, the watch will be held against loss from the pocket.
What I claim to be new is l. A fob guard for watch pockets comprising a ,clasp for attachment to the edge of a pocket and a fob connected thereto, a
member adapted to engage over the edge of a pocket and connections between said member and clasp said member adapted to be connected to a watch within the pocket.
2. A `fob guard for watch pockets comprising a clasp yand means for securely fastening the same over theedge of a pocket, a fob connected to said clasp, a member tted over the'edge of a pocket and connected to said clasp, and a watch chain connected to said member. i
3. A fob guard for watch pockets comprising a clasp and means for securely fastening the same over the edge of a pocket, a fob connected to said clasp, a hook-shaped member adapted to be iitted over the edge of a pocket, a chain connecting said member and clasp, and a watch chain secured to the member.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aiiiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HERMAN A. BAER.
