AWNING-FIXTURE.
incense To all whom itmay concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH E. Osnoruvna citizen of the .United States, residing at W ashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Im provements in Awning-Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to awning fixtures, and particularly to such devices as are intended to be used in supporting and attaching the top rod of an awning to a building.
The invention involves, particularly a wire staple having sharpened points adapted to pass through the awning cover and bend back upon the awning rod in such manner as to prevent the same from becoming accidentally disconnected from the awning The object of my invention is to provide an awning fixture formed of a single wire doubled upon itself to form a loop and having sharpened points by'which it may be easily and readily inserted through the cover and attached to an awning.
Furthermore, the object of my invention is to provide an awning fixture comprising a single wire, doubled upon itself and having sharpened points formed integrally with the body portion thereof, and having a small bend at the angle for supporting a pulley.
Finally, the object of my invention is to provide an awning fixture, comprising a wire looped upon itself, forming a means for attaching the same to a nail or screw inserted in a window frame or other part of a building, to which it is desired to attach the awning.
I With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the arrangements and details of the construction as disclosed in the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and which is more particularly pointed out in the olaim.
In the drawing I illustrate my invention, as set forth in detail in the following description, and in which, 7
Figure 1 is a view in elevation, showing my improved awning fixture attached to the top rod of an awning. Fig. 2 is a perspective view in elevation, showing'the invention before being clamped on the awning rod. Fig. 3 is a side view, showing my improved awning fixture attached to an awning rod P t iQ meters t Patented Aug. 17, 1915. Application filedMay 18,
1914. Serial No. 839,253.
awning fixture of a single piece of wire bent upon itself at 3, forming vertical side arms, and sharpened extending points, 5. At the points of the angle, I form a small bend, 6, which supports the ring 7, of the pulley 8. The loop 'formed between the vertical portions 4, forms a loop through which the screw, 9, is inserted into the frame or wall .of, a building, and'by which the device is supported.
In the operation of my invention it is to be noted that the ring of the pulley is inserted over the points until .it seats in the bend, 6. The sharpened points are then inserted through the awning l'covering, immediately beneath the awning rod, then the said points are bent inwardly toward the vertical portion, 4, thus attaching the awning hanger to the top rod of the awning.
In my improved awning fixture I provide a device which is simple in structure, inexpensive to manufacture and which may be easily and readily attached to an awning in a permanent manner, so that when the awning is removed the fixture remains secure to the top rod, and when it is again desired to replace the awning the fixture need not be replaced, but inserted over the eye of the retaining screw, which is secure in the frame or wall of the building.
The mounting of the awning, as will be clearly apparent, is an operation that can be readily, quickly and easily performed. The same applies to the taking down of the awning. The removal of the awning can be accomplished Without separatingthe fixtures from the awning rod, and their application does not in any wise affect or require any change to-the awning structure or the building to which the awning may be connected.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In an awning fixture comprising a single wire bent upon itself, forming vertical side arms provided with sharpened extending pointed side arms having a small bend intermediate their length, said bend adapted In testimony whereof I affix my signature to receive the (iing if a pgllley, sat-n31 $311111 polfl in presence of two Witnesses. tlons eing a apte to einser e t roug V r anawning cover and. clenched over the top i JOSEPH B 5 rod of the awning, whereby the awning may Witnesses: V
be attached to" a building, substantially as l INA E; GOLLADAY, described. 7 V HARRY F. KENNEDY.
