Description

-l Git-frn atea' stette WILLIAM P. .LE-LAND, OF MENDN, MICHIGAN.
Lettere Patent Ne. 114,952, dated Mey 16, 1871.'
IMPROVEMENT IN GRAIN-BAG HOLDERS.
The Schedule referred to tu these Letten Patent and making part: of the `lame.
' struction and arrangement of a bag-holder, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. In .order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of my bag-holder, and' Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the hopper.
A represents' the bed-frame, at one end of which is hinged the L-shaped standard B.
At the other end of the frame A is an inclined frame,C, which is for the purpose of supporting the standard B when let down to about an angle of twenty degrees.
I) represents the hopper, provided on one side with a hook,- which -is inserted in a loop or guide, b, on
the upper end of the standard B.
At each end of the hopper D, on the lower edge,
projects a ange, d, outward and upward, as shown in At the lower edge of the door f on the outer side is a triangular-shaped projection, h, extending near to the flange d, as shown.
Inorder to hold a bag the hem at the top of the bag is drawn down between the anges d d and the projections h h on the doors ff until the hem is below said projections. When once put in in this way it' cannot come out, becausethe heavierthe bag gets the tighter the doors will hold the bag.
When filling the bag the standard B, with the hopper is dropped down onto the support O, and when tilled it is raised up again. Then by pressing from the inside on the upper edges of the doors ff the bag will drop ont instantly, and another may be attached in the same-manner.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The hopper D, provided with flanges d d and doors f j, constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The combination of .the bed-frame A, standard B, support C, and. hopper D with anges d d and doors ff, all constructed and arranged substantially as and forthe purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I alix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM I?. LELAND.
Witnesses:
O. J. FAST,
THOMAS OUDDY.
