My invention has for its object to furnish an improved device for securing collars, tops, and caps to lamps, molasses-pitchers, and other articles of glassware requiring collars, tops, or caps to be attached to them; and
' It consists in the catches formed upon the collar,
' and the notches formed in the neck of the article, as

""1 will describe my device as applied to a lamp-collar,
the application being the same in all cases.
A represents the neck of alamp.
"B represents the collar, which is constructed in-the ordinary manner.
In the outer sides of the neck A are formed two or more notches .or recesses, d, to receive the spring catches, b, which are formed upon or attached to the collar B in such positions as ,to springinto the notches or recesses d of the neck A when the collar is pushed down to its place.
A rubber band, 0, or other suitable packing, is placed upon th neck A,.beneath the collar B, to prevent leakage.
' With this device it will be almost impossible to remove the collar top or cap after-ithas once been adjusted in place without breaking the article.
This device avoids'all annoyance and danger from the dissolving of the cement by the oil or other contents of the vessel, as frequently happens whenthe caps, collars, or tops are secured with cement in the ordinary manner.
