FAUCET DRINKING-FOUNTAIN.
Application filed. February 21, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALMoNT A. BAILEY, J12, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Portland, county of Multnomah, and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Faucet DrinkingFountains, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to faucet drinking fountains, and more particularly to a portable, or detachable, sanitary drinking fountain which can be readily applied to the ordinary faucets in an ofiice, home or elsewhere, for the purpose of affording a sanitary means of drinking and thereby elimimate the use of public drinking cups and the like.
In order that others may understand my invention, I have shown on the accompanying sheet of drawings, forming a part hereof, two different forms or embodiments of the invention, with means for attaching them to faucets of different sizes.
In the drawings I have shown one practical embodiment of the invention.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive drinking fountain which can be carried in the pocket, or attached to a faucet by means of a chain, if in a public place, or which can be attached to a faucet in the oflice, home or elsewhere, and left in place for drinking purposes, thus avoiding the use of cups or glasses for miscellaneous use.
In the drawings I have shown a practical form of the invention, the body of which comprises two tubes, as 8 and 9, mounted one within the other, as indicated. The outer tube is provided at one end with a tapered portion or part, adapted to receive the end of the faucet, as indicated. -At its outer end, said outer tube is provided with a cup or bowl 10. Said tube 8 is cut away for a portion of its length at the outside of the bend thereof, as indicated at 11, for a purpose hereinafter again referred to.
The inner tube 9 at the faucet end is provided with a head or part 12 adapted to be inserted into the end of the faucet, substan tially as indicated. said head being provided therethrough with a diagonally disposed Specification of Letters Patent.

passageway. Said inner tube 9 extends up into the bowl or cup 10 substantially as shown, and there delivers the water for drinking purposes. The opening 11 in the curved portion of the outer tube 8 is of sufficient size and length to permit the inner tube 9 to be put into place therethrough, and said inner tube is then preferably secured to the inside of the outer tube, as by soldering.
In this form of the invention, the water from the faucet passes partly through the inner tube and partly over the head 12 and through the outer tube to the opening 11 in the lower part thereof, that which passes through the inner tube being delivered at its opposite end in the cup 10 for the drinking fountain, while the overflow in the cup 10 and that which escapes around the head 12 passes downwardly and is discharged from the outer tube through the opening at 11.
An important feature of the invention is that which prevents the full volume and force of the water fromthe faucet being delivered at the drinking end of the fountain, and provides that only sufficient water and force shall be delivered through the fountain at the drinking point to make it easy to drink without getting wet.
I am aware that changes can be made in the invention as here illustrated without departing from the spirit thereof, and I do not, therefore, limit the invention to the particular forms here shown, except as I may be limited by the hereto appended claims.
I claim:
1. A portable drinking fountain comprising a crooked body composed of two tubular members one within the other, said members being adapted at one end to fit one around and one into a faucet end, and at their opposite ends provided with a bowl-like memher into which said inner tubular member projects, said outer tubular member being provided with an outlet opening through its side for overflow.
2. In combination with a faucet, a drinking fountain comprising two tubular members mounted one within the other, said members being at one end adapted to fit one around and one into the end of said faucet,
and at their other ends provided with a Signed at Portland, Oregon, February bowl-like member through the bottom of 15th, 1913.
which said inner member projects said outer member being provided with an oiltlet open- ALMONT BAILEY ing through its side through which said In presence of bowl-like member discharges the over flow BrJAMEs, from said inner member. G. A. NICHOLS.
Copies of this patent maybe obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner 015 Patents, Washington, D. 0.
