Description

v A. P. H. BROZUKAT. COMBINATION THREAD REEL AND NEEDLE CUSHION.
APPLICATION FILED DEC- 6, I913- Patented July 13, 1915.
Fri/171g! c ANNA PAULA HELENE BROZUKAT, OF LONDON, ENGLAND.
COMBINATION THREAD-REEL AND NEEDLE-CUSHION.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 13, 1915.
Application filed December 6, 1913. Serial No. 805,013.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANNA PAULA HELENE BROZUKAT, spinster, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at 97 Tottenham Court road, London, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Combination Thread-Reel and Needle-Cushion, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combination thread reel and needle cushion of the kind in which the cushion is mounted by a spindle fitting into the central bore hole of the reel.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the reel, Fig. 2 a sectional elevation of Fig. l and Fig. 3 a plan of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings a denotes the cushion which is made with suitable textile fabric stuffed with wool or other material and which is preferably stifl'ened by means of a card-board disk 6. The cushion is preferably made ring-shaped and is attached to the reel 0 by means of a hollow sleeve or bush (5 which passes through the center opening of the cushion and takes into the bore hole 6, 6 the said sleeve being provided at its upper end with a beaded edge or flange d to prevent the removal of the cushion. The reel is composed of a barrel and two end flanges integral with said bar rel. The external diameter of this hollow sleeve d corresponds to the internal diameter of that portion of the bore hole which receives the sleeve. As will be seen from the drawings the bore hole is shown as a stepped passage comprising two portions 6 and 6 the sleeve or bush d taking into the portion 6 of the greatest diameter and abutting against the step e of the passage. It
will also be noted that the internal diameter of the sleeve 03 corresponds to the diameter of the narrower portion 6 of the bore hole so that the central hole is of the same diameter throughout its length, whereby the reel may be inserted on the bobbinor reel-spin dle of any machine without any difliculty. The cushion may if desired be further secured to the top end of the reel by means of glue or other suitable means.
The edge f of the top flange of the reel may be made deeper to enable a label bearing the words usually put on the top end to be placed around it. If desired however, the label or the advertisement may be print ed on the cushion itself.
I claim In combination a thread reel composed of a barrel and two end flanges integral with said barrel, said barrel having a central bore hole formed by two portions of different diameters joined by a step, each portion extending from a diflterent end of the reel, a ring shaped cushion on the end of the reel formed with the bore portion of greatest diameter, and a hollow sleeve extending through said ring shaped cushion and entering said portion of greatest diameter and abutting against said step, the internal diameter of said sleeve corresponding sub stantially to the internal diameter of the narrow portion of said bore hole, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANNA PAULA HELENE BROZUKAT.
Witnesses:
HUGH SWEENEY, THOMAS G. Locnn.
