To all whom it may concern Be it known that LxBENNO voMEronN, citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essexand State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Frame Fasten ers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, andexact description of the invention, such as .will enable others skilled in the art to which, it appertains to make and use the, same, reference being-had tothe accompanying drawings, and tocharacters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates, generally, to improvements in-bag-frame fasteners; and, the present invention has reference, more particularly, to a: novel fastener for the frames of bags of the various kinds, and made in the form of a spring-controlled catchor lock for'the usual hinged framesections of bag-frames.

The present invention has for its principal object to provide a neat and simply constructed bagsframe fastener of the general" character hereinafter more fully set forth,

' and which is, readily manipulated.

The invention has for its further object to provide a pivotally-disposed lmob or'fingerpiece, arranged upon the upper portion-[of the shell or box of the fastener, and a'novel construction and arrangement of curved spring within the shell orbox and: cooperatf ing with the knob or fingerpiece to. limit its outward andrearward movement when manipulated, and also to returnthe said knob or fingerpiece to its normal initial position after manipulation;

The invention has for its further object to provide the spring-controlled knob or fingerpiece'with a stud, projection, 'or the like, which projects rearwardly intoa slot or opening in the back ofthe shell or box, and cooperates with the shellor box to pre vent the knob or fingerpiece to be inadvertently moved in a forward or downward direction from its normal initial position with relation to the upper surfaceof the shell or box, but still does not interfere with the outward .JOI inward movement when manipulated, nor with the return movement of the knob or fingerpiece after manipulation.

Other objects of this invention not at this time more particularly enumerated will be whichwill be more fully described in the following specification, and then finally embodied in the clauses -of the claim which is appended to the said specification and forms an essential part of the same.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a fragmentaryview, in front elevation, of the frame-sections of a bag? frame in their closed relation, with a bagframe fastener. made accordingto the prin- I ciples of the present invention, the bagframe fastener being also shown in front elevation. A bag-frame fastener comprising a shell or box formed in its upper face with openings, and in its front face and in its rear facewith other openings, a fingerpiece loosely mounted upon saidv upper face and over the openings in said upper face, a spring-engaging post extending from said fingerpiece into and through one of theopenings in the upper face, a spring within said shell or box having a portion in engagement with said post, a hasp-receiving stud extending from said fingerpiece into the other opening in said upper face and into the opening in the front face of the shell or box,

and a stop-pin extending rearwardly from said spring-engaging post, said pin projecting into the opening of the rear face of vsaid shell or boxand being adapted to be brought into arresting engagement with a marginal portion of said rear face surrounding said opening to prevent movement of the fingerpiece in a forward direction, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

4. A bag-frame fastener comprising a shell or box formed in its upper face with an opening, a fingerpiece loosely mounted upon said upper face, a spring-engaging post extending from said fingerpiece into and, through the opening in the upper face,

said post being provided near its lower end with a laterally extending slot, a bowed torsional spring having its central portion arranged in said slot, and the end-portions of said spring extending in upward directions of said shell or box and resting in frictional engagement with the inner and upper corher-portions of said shell or box, and a haspreceiving stud extending from said fingerpiece, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

5. A bag-frame fastener comprising a shell said upper face, a spring-engaging post extending from said fingerpiece into I and through the opening in the upper face, said post being provided near its lower end with a laterally extending slot, a bowed portion arranged in said slot, and the end-portions of said spring extending in upward directions within the shell or box and resting in frictional engagement with the inner and upper corner-portions of said shellor box, and a hasp-receiving stud extending from said fingerpiece, andmeans connected with said spring-engaging post adapted to be brought into arrested engagement with a portion of said shell or box to prevent move ment of the fingerpiece in a forward direction.

A bag-frame fastener comprising a shell or box formed in its upper face with openings, and in. its front face and in its rear face with other openings, a fingerpiece loosely mounted upon said upper face and over the openings in said upper face,,a spring-engaging post extending from said fingerpiece into and through one of the openings in the upper face, said post being provided near its lower end with a laterally extending slot, bowed torsional spring having its central portions arranged in said slot, and the end-portions of said spring portions of said shell or box, a hasp-receiving stud extending from said fingerpiece into the opening in the front face of the shell or box, and a stop-pin extending rearwardly from said spring-engaging post, said pin projecting into the openlng of the rear.
