To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, CHARLES L. WILEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and State of Georgia, have invented a new and useful Cover-Holder for Childrens Beds, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in cover holders for beds.

The object of the present invention is to improve the construction of devices for holding bed covering, and to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient device designed principally for use on and adapted to be readily applied to a childs bed, and capable of holding the bed covering and of maintaining the same in a spread condition to keep a child covered, and of permitting bed covering to rise without becoming displaced when the child kicks.

A further object of the invention is to provide a bed cover holder of this character adapted to permit the bed covering to be lifted at either side of the bed to afiord access to the occupant thereof, and capable of being readily arranged to support a mosuito netting over the bed.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a plan view of a bed cover holder, constructed in accordance with this invention and shown applied to a childs bed and arranged for holding the covering thereof. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view, the device being arranged to support a mosquito netting. Fig. 4: is a transverse sectional view of the same. Fig. 5 is a detail sectional view, illustrating the construction of the clamps for mounting the holder on a bedstead. for maintaining the hinged frames of the holder in a raised position. Fig. 8 is an enlarged detail perspective view of a portion of one of the hinged frames, illustrating the manner of securing the bed clothing thereto. Fig. 9 is a detail perspective view of one of the hinged frames.

In the accompanying drawings in which is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, the holder comprises a pair of hinged frames 1 of approximately U- shape, constructed preferably of tinned steel wire or other suitable material and each composed of end portions 2 and a longitudinal connecting side portion 3. The end portions 2 of the frames are provided with terminal longitudinally disposed pivots 4:, arranged in bearing openings and having laterally bent outer ends 7 to prevent displacement of the pivots, but any other suitable means may, of course, be employed for retaining the terminal pivots of the hinged frames in the bearings of the clamps.

Each clamp 6 has a body portion constructed preferably of a single strip or piece of metal provided at the terminal portions with longitudinal slots 8 and having the terminal portions bent inwardly to form approximately U- haped engaging portions 9, which are curved to conform to the configuration of the vertical rods 10 at the head and foot of a childs crib or bed 11 of the ordinary construction. The connecting portion of the body of each clamp is straight between the terminal engaging portions,

which embrace two of the vertical rods of the bed 11, and the ends 12 of metal of the body are straight and in parallelism with the said straight connecting portion of the body, and the slot-s 9, which terminate at the ends 12, receive clamping screws 13 having heads at their outer ends and engaging threaded perforations 14 of the straight connecting portion of the body. The screws 13 cause the engaging portions of the clamp to firmly grip the vertical rods 10 of the bed and the said clamps are adapted to be adjusted upwardly and downwardly on the said rods to arrange the holder in proper position. 5. An attachment for beds having spaced vertical rods at the head and foot, said attachment including two hinged frames,

clamps for mounting the frames on the bed,

to permit the said frames to swing downwardly against the bed clothes at opposite the bed clothes in a spread condition against displacement, said frames being also adapted to swing upwardly over the bed and form a supportfor mosquito netting or the like.

6. An attachment for beds having spaced vertical rods at the head and foot, said attachment including two hinged frames, clamps for mounting the frames on the bed, said clamps being provided with means for engaging the rods of the bed and having bearings receiving the frames and permitting the latter to swing downwardly against the bed clothes at opposite sides of the bed, and means carried by the frames for holding the bed clothes in a spread condition against holding the bed clothes in a spread condition 7 against displacement, said frames being also adapted to swing upwardly over the bed and form a support for mosquito netting or the like. 7
