To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, CALEB M. PRATI-IER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Evanston, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Baby-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Among the principal objects which the present invention has in view are: to provide a holder for an infant which may be adjusted to accommodate the needs for the same in the sleeping and sitting postures; and to provide a construction which is simple, efficient and readily transported.

One embodiment of the present invention is disclosed in the structure illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a baby holder constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the holder shown in its vertical position, indicating in dotted lines the lifted position of the end cover; and Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3-3 in Fig. 2.

As shown in the accompanying drawings the holder consists of a cylinder 8. This is 30 preferably constructed from a light steel or other suitable metal. A door 9 is hingedly mounted and is provided with a shackle 10 to overlie a thumb button 11. The cylinder 8 is pivotally mounted by means of a bracket 12, the end whereof is cupped to form a socket to receive a ball atthe end of the stud 18. The bracket 12 is adapted for adjustment to any standing structure, such as the rail of a porch, the back of a chair, or the back of a seat in a railway car. In Fig. 2 of the drawings the bracket 12 is shown as permanent fixture upon the rail 14 which is supported by the posts 15. In Fig. 3 a modified form of the bracket 12, shown as the bracket 16 having a hook clip 17, is substituted for the fixed form of the said bracket 12.

When supported by the bracket alone the cylinder 8 is disposed in the position shown 50 lin Fig. 2. This is what is known as the sitting or standing position for the infant. To

accommodate the needs of the infant in this position an adjustable seat 18 is provided.

The seat 18 is extended from a sliding col- 55 lar 19, which is mounted on the rod 20. The

rod 20 is secured by thills 21, 21 to the side of the cylinder 8. The seat 18 is moved up and down on the rod 20 to accommodate the infant. In the sitting or standing position of the infant the cover 22 is raised, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 2, in which position the infant can see over the top of the cylinder when standing or can rest by reclining on the seat 18.

When it is desired to place the cylinder 8 in a horizontal position that the infant may lie prone to sleep, the cylinder is rotated on the bracket 16 and a strap 23 is passed about the said cylinder and buckled, as shown in Fig. 1. The strap 23 is suitably secured to the rail 14 at a convenient position to support the lower end of the said cylinder when raised. In the horizontal position shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings the cover 22 is closed by passing the shackle 24 over the button 25.

To afford the infant the necessary air the door S) and cover 22 are provided with air perforations 26, 26.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Iatcnt is 1. A baby holder, comprising an elongated case to hold an infant when reclining; a side section removably mounted on said case to form a door therefor; a movable cover for the top end of said case to be opened when said case is in vertical position; a pivotal mounting for said ease disposed adjacent one end thereof to normally suspend said case; and a flexible winding device attached to said case to be wrapped around the same and around a supporting member to hold the case when arranged in horizontal position.

2. A baby holder, comprising an elongated case for holding an infant when reclining; a side section movably mounted on said case to form a door therefor; a hinged cover for the upper end of said case to be opened when the said end is in vertical position; a pivotal mounting for said ease disposed adjacent one end thereof to normally suspend said case; and a flexible winding device attached to said case to be wrapped around the same and around a supporting member to hold the case when arranged in horizontal position.

A baby holder, comprising an elongated case to hold an infant when reclining; a side section removably mounted on said case to form a door therefor; a pivotal mounting for said case disposed adjacent one end thereof to normally suspend said case; means for supporting the end of said case opposite that having the pivotal mounting When the case is arranged in horizontal position; a guide rod mounted in said case and secured lengthwise therein; and a seat slidably mounted on said rod.

A baby holder, comprising an elongated case to hold an infant When reclining; a side section removably mounted on said case to form a door therefor; a pivotal mounting for said case disposed adjacent the end thereof to normally suspend said case; means for supporting the end of said case opposite that 'having the pivotal mounting When the 15) case is arranged in horizontal position; a guide rod mounted in said case and secured lengthwise thereinya seat slidably mounted on said rod; and a clamping collar to hold said seat on said rod in adjusted position. 20
