Application filed May 8, 191a. Serial No. 837,191.
Flo-s33 wiw'm it may concern:
Be. it known that 1, ROBERT E. Brons- WICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvaniaflmve invented a new and useful Bottle-Opener; and
it do hereby declarethe. following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in-' vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to whichv it ap'pertains to make and use the same.
3 This invention relates to a new and useful improved bottle opener, having for one of its objects to provide an opener terminating at one end in a tubular member constituting a holder for a pen or a pencil, where by the pencil may always be held in position for use.
Another object oi the invention is'to construct an opener having simple and ehicient iteatures of construction, one of whichis to construct the opener from a single piece of wire, the end'portions 01? which are brought together and welded together and within one end oi a tubular member, which forms a holder for a pencil or a pen. Portions of the wire adjacent the extreme end portions being struck up or swaged to'form ears to.
. Fig. 5 is a longitudinal. sectional view showing another form of construction. Fig. 6 1s a sectional view on line 6-6 of Fig. 5.
Referring more particularly to the drawlngs, 1 designates a bottle opener as a whole, whlch in. Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive comprises a body portion having two diverging side members 3 terminating in curved portions 4:, which are connected by the transverse,
parts 6. The diverging parts are provided with struck up or stretched portion 7 de s gned to engage under the periphery 8 of a bottle cap 9 for removing the same. The other end of the body portion terminates in a tubular member 10, designed to receive a pen, pencil or the like for the purpose hereinbefore stated.
In Figs. 5 and 6 the diverging portions are brought together in parallel relation as shown at 11 and partly welded 'to ether at 12, and also welded within the tubu ar member as shown at 13, a portion of the tubular member being depressed from opposite sides in between the parallel parts.
The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is A connector for a bottle opening tool and handle therefor comprising a hollow tubular member having unobstructed exterior and interior surfaces, and in one end of which two adjacent parallel parts of the tool are permanently secured for holding the two parts together to prevent spreading of said parts, the other end of said member being adapted to receive either the used end, or the non-used end of another tool which is adapted to constitute a handle;
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two sub-scribing witnesses.
