WINDOW-MOP.

To all 10710212 it may concern Be it known that 1, Gimme E. SHAW, a citizen of the United States, residing at h-eenville, in the county of Piscataquis and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVindow-Mops,

of which the following is a specification,

reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention comprehends certain new and useful improvements in window mops and has for its primary object to provide a device of this character which will be of extremely simple and cheap construction and highly eflicient in use.

Another object it to provide a device of this character which may be composed of the minimum number of parts, which will be strong and durable in use and which may be readily employed for Washing the outer surfaces of window panes where a wire screen or the like has been permanently secured outwardly of the window thereby making it impossible to wash the outer surfaces of the window panes from outside of the building.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character in which the device will be extremely thin, thereby making it possible to readily insert the same between the window panes and the wire screen or the like secured outwardly of said panes, without the necessity of removing the wire screen.

With the above and other objects in View, my invention consists in certain novel constructions, con'ibinations, and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,

ner side of the frame. The opposite ends of the wire are twisted and extended at right angles to the frame, as shown at 2, said ends being extended outwardly from the inner side of the frame. The twisted ends 2 are adapted to be secured in one end of the handle section 3 which has a ferrule or the like secured therearound to prevent splitting of said handle section 3. This handle section 3 has its opposite end reduced and threaded, as shown at 5, for engagement in the threaded socket 6 in one end of a handle extension section 7, whereby the length of the handle may be readily increased.

A wire member 8 is secured to the wire frame 1 parallel with the outer side of said frame, the opposite ends of said wire member 8 being secured to the end of the frame.

In use, cloth 9 is secured between the wire member 8 and the outer side of the frame 1, a portion of said cloth being engaged over the outer side of said frame, it being understood that the wire member 8 is spaced only a short distance from the outer side of the frame and will therefore securely hold the cloth in position.

It will be readily seen that, owing to the construction of this device, it may be readily engaged between a Window sash and a wire screen or the like secured to the outer face of the window casing and may be manipulated in such manner as to pass the cloth over the entire outer surface of the window pane, it being understood that the lower sash is raised or the upper sash lowered sufliciently to insert the device between the sash to be washed and the material secured to the outer side of the Window easing.

\Vhile I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in the details of construction and arrangement of parts may be made within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing any of the advantages of the same.
