To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, the undersigned, WALTER S. HAWK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing-Cabinets, and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The object of this invention is the provision of a rack for supporting rolls of wire screens and the like in position for convenient dispensation.

The further object is to provide a device of this character having means whereby the usual tendency of a roll of wire fabric to unroll is utilized for retarding or braking it.

In the accompanying drawing wherein is disclosed an approved embodiment of the invention, Figure 1 represents a front elevation of the rack set up for use, the same being broken away for convenient illustration. Fig. 2 represents an end elevation thereof similarly broken away. Fig. 3 represents a side elevation of the inside of one of the supporting members for the wire rolls. Fig. 4 represents a sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 represents a sectional view on the line 55 of Fig. 3.

For the purpose of illustration I have shown three of my improved racks, in Figs.

' 1 and 2, set up for use but it will be understood that as many of the racks as are required may be stacked one upon the other in the manner herein described.

Referring to the drawing in detail wherein similar reference numerals indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 6 indicates suitable feet for supporting the frame structure consisting of the longitudinal members 7 and end members 8.

As shown the length of the longitudinal members 7 is gradually decreased from the lower to the upper end of the frame, thus correspondingly decreasing the distance between the end members 8 between which the rolls of wire are rotatably supported.

Each end member 8 comprises a body 9 of substantially flat formation having outwardly directed cars 10, suitably apertured for receiving screws or other securing devices adapted to secure the end members 8 to the longitudinal members 7.

A semi-circular inwardly directed flange 11 is formed on the inner face of each end member and ends thereof are extended parallel along the top and bottom edges of the member, so as to permit the roll to be inserted between the pair of the members and to prevent it from dropping out of the back of the rack. When the roll has been placed between the members 9 a retaining member 12 is attached to the outside end member 9 by means of a screw 13, and is provided with an inwardly directed flange 11 normally engaging the end of the roll so as to prevent it from moving outwardly from the front of the rack. Each end member 9 is also provided with a suitable aperture concentric with the flange 11 for receiving the enlargement 15 formed on the inside of the retaining member 12. The spool, or stub axle 16 is secured by a screw 17 concentrically with the enlargement 15 and is adapted to be received by the opening ordinarily formed in the ends of the spools on which the rolls of wire are coiled.

To place a roll of wire within the rack, the retaining member 12 of a pair of members 8 is removed, and the roll positioned between the said members 8. The retaining members 12 are then secured in position upon the supporting members 8 so that the spools 16 enter the openings in the ends of the spool carrying the roll of wire for rotatably supporting the latter. The flanges 11 and 14 of the supporting members 8 and retaining members 12 are of sufficient width and are engaged by portions of a roll of wire and frictionally engage the latter as it uncoils for retarding the movement thereof.

Cross pieces 18 are secured centrally between each pair of the longitudinal members for engaging and supporting the central portions of the roll of wire screen and to prevent it from sagging at the middle.
