LAMP-SHADE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

The lamp shade comprises the cap, apron and the intermediate portion connected by screws. The intermediate portion is made up of a plurality of sections, the sections comprising the ribs 1 joined to the base 2 bv the screws 3. The top 4 has a flange or edging 5 depending from its underface which is cut-away to receive the upper ends of the ribs as shown at Fig. 4. The upper ends of the ribs are connected to the top bv the screws 6.
The glass sections 7 are located in rabbets formed in the ribs and their lower ends are located in the recesses 8 formed in the upper part of the base 2, Fig. 5. Screws and washers 9 are turned in connection with the ribs and hold the glass sections in position.
The apron is formed of a plurality of sections 10 corresponding in number to the sections in the intermediate portion and the sections are joined by the angle piece 11 glued in position. Each section has a central opening 12 and grooves to support a glass 13. This apron is connected to the base 2 of the intermediate section by the screws 14.
I've claim as our invention:
1.. A lamp shade comprising a panel section polygonal in shape, and an apron secured to the under side of the base of said panel section, comprising side sections conforming to the polygonal shape of said panel section, having the ends of two adjacent side sections abutted, each section having a vertically disposed slot extending from end to end and to the top of the panel section, an angular section located in the slots of two adjacent ends and forming a connection therebetween, and a glass located in the slot of each section intermediate said angular sections.
A lamp shade comprising a panel section polygonal in shape, and an apron secured to the under side of the base of said panel section, comprising side sections conforming to the polygonal shape of said panel section, having the ends of two adjacent side sections abutted, glass sections carried by the side sections, the glass sections being of less length than said side sections, leaving an opening between the ends of the glass and the ends of said sections, and angle plates located in said openings of the abutting ends to hold said side sections in position, the panel sections being constructed so that both said glass sections and angle plates may be inserted into operative positions from a side of the panel section common to its individual sections.
3. In a lamp shade, the combination of an apron formed of angularly arranged sections and a top portion surmounting the apron, the sections each having a transverse opening therethrough and a longitudinal glass or the like receiving opening communicating with said transverse opening and extending to the top side of the apron whereby a glass or the like may be inserted into said longitudinal opening from said top side when the apron is disassociated from the top portion, and means for attaching the apron to said top portion of the r lamp shade.
4. In a lamp shade, the combination of an apron formed of angularly arranged sections and a top portion surmounting the apron, the adjoining sections each having a longitudinal glass or the like receiving slot open at the opposite ends and one side of the section, a glass or the like located in each longitudinal slot and being of less length than its section thereby leaving open space at the junction of the longitudinal slots of said adjoining sections, and means located in the open space of said adjoining sections for attaching said sections together.
5. In a lamp shade, the combination of an apron formed of singularly arranged sections and a top portion surmounting the apron, the adjoining sections each having a longitudinal glass or the like receiving slot open at opposite ends and one side of the section, a glass or the like located in each longitudinal slot and being of less length than its section thereby leaving open space at the junction of the longitudinal slots of said adjoining sections, and an angular member located in said open space of said adjoining sections for attaching same together, the glass and angle member being insertible into said slot from the open side of the section.
6. A lamp shade comprising a polygonal portion. each angular section thereof haw ing a transverse opening therethrough, a longitudinal slot extending from end to end and to the top side of each section, a glass located in each slot and being of less length witnesses.
