To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN MARCZI, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at La Belle, in the county of Fayette and Sta-te of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Extensible Window-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
lThe primary object of the invention is to provide a window sash capable of being alter-ed in length by interposing the desired number of sections of sash, such sections including both the frame and the glass.
A further object is to provide a sash especially adapted for hot houses and being eX- tensible in length by the provision of additional sash rails, the eXtra panes of glass desired being supported by the said rails.
A still further object is to provide an eX- tensible window sash having its longitudinal parallel rails formed of a plurality of connected sections arranged for supporting the requisite panes of glass.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a window sash of the present construction and formed in three sections, portions of the glass being broken away and removed therefrom. Fig. 2 is a sectional detail view taken upon line ll-H of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a similar view taken upon line Ill-IH of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a similar detail sectional view taken transversely through one of the intermediate tongue and groove joints of the middle` rail of the frame, and Fig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the end sections of the middle frame rail, the same being broken away.
Referring more in detail to the drawings, the entire frame 10 which constitutes the present invention is arranged when assembled to form substantially the usual appearance of a hot house sash frame having opposite longitudinal side rails 11 and a centrally positioned middle longitudinal rail 12 positioned therebetween, the said longitudinal rails being connected at their opposite ends by means of the end rails 13 of the sash. The panes of glass 14 are also arranged as usually positioned being mounted in central longitudinal edge grooves 15 of the inclosing rails, the central rail 12 dividing the sash frame into two equal parts and herein illustrated in Fig. 1, as being adapted to accommodate three equal sized glasses in each half of the frame.

sired number of sections may be similarly combined as it will be seen that the end sections 16 are of identical formation and oppositely arranged, being substantially IE- shaped. The end rails 13 are provided at their opposite ends with the inwardly projecting rail sections 17 secured thereto by tongue and groove joints 18 which form the four corners of the complete frame. rEhe central rail 12 'has its end sections 19 formed as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 5 of the drawmg each having a dowel pin 2O at its 'outer end extending through a perforation 21 at the center of the end rails 13, while the inner ends of the opposite central rail sections 19 are formed with an interengaging tongue 22 and groove 23. The inner ends of the side rail sections 17 are similarly provided with an interengaging tongue 24 and groove 25. By this arrangement it will be seen that the two end sections may be interengaged by uniting the tongue and groove joints formed at their adjacent inner ends into a complete window sash having two sections. With this two section frame forming a basis or foundation for the eXtensible sash of the desired length, sections 26 of the central rail are provided in any desired numbers, the said central rail sections 26 having a slot 27 at one end thereof and a tongue 28 at its other end and whereby a single section 26 may be interposed between the end sections of the frame as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, while any desired number of such central rail sections 26 may be similarly interposed as desired. In a similar manner, upper and lower rail sections 29 and 30 are provided, each of the said sections having a tongue 31 at one end thereof and a slot or groove 32 at its other end whereby the sections 29 and 30 may be readily interposed between the end sections of the two longitudinal side rails. Any number of side rail sections may be similarly inter-posed and thus the length of the side railsll may be made to conform to the length of the central rail 12. rllhe edge grooves 15 are arranged in all of the end sections as well as the intermediate side and central sections 26, 29 and 30 and whereby the frame may be filled with the panes of glass 14 whatever length of frame is set up. The central rail sections 19 of the end sections of the frames are retained by means of screws 33, while the middle rail sections 26 are secured in their tongue and groove relations by means of similar serevvs 34, tl1e sections 19 of the side rails being also retained by means of screws 35.
It Will thus be seen that an extensible sash is provided Which may be readily employed forhot house use and one complete intermediate section may be removed When desired or a greater number than one intermediate section may be positioned in the structure at Will, While the completey sash presents a unitary appearance when assembled and possesses ,the requisite strength for practical purposes of use.

lVhat I claim as nevv is An extensible sash comprising end sections oppositely arranged with side rails approaching each other, and intermediate side rail sections extending between and conneeted to the spaced inner ends of the end section rails.
