Letters Patent No. 112,067, dated February 21, 1871.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAINS.
i The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, ROBERT Nns'srxenn and FRIEDRICH BRUER, both of Newark, in the county 0f Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Curtains; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full7 clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this Specication, in which drawing- Figure l represents a front view ot' this invention.

This invention relates to a curtain which is made of a textile fabric, coated on both sides with a com-` pound made of linseed oil land a suitable pigment, whereby said fabric becomes stili' and impervious to water, so that the same, when secured to the cornice, will readily retain the desired shape or folds, and that, when it becomes dirty, it can be washed oit without being taken down.
With the cornice and curtain are combined two corner blocks and a series of parting strips, for the purpose of forming the folds of the curtain and retainingr them in the 'required position.
The curtain A is made in the forni shown in iig. 1 of'the drawing, and it is secured to the cornice B, which is provided with corner blocks a a, the folds ot' the curtain being retained in position by parting strips l) l) interposed between them, as shown in iig. 2 of the drawing.
`What we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhe combination of a curtain, made oi' a textile fabriccoated with a compound of linseed oil and a suitable pigment, with a cornice provided with corner blocks a, and with parting strips b interposed between the folds of the curtain. substantially in the manner herein shown and described.
