ICE-CREAM FREEZER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To (ZZZ whomit may concern Be it known that 1, JAMES Soor'r PARRIsI- a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Richmond, county of Henrico, and State of Virginia, have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Ice-Cream Freezers, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Wll1Cl1-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the frame detached from the tub; Fig. 2 a vertical longitudinal section showing it attached to a tub; Fig. 3 a metal blank from which the frame is struck up or stamped and drawn.
The object of this invention is to prov de an ice cream freezer gearing frame which may be stamped or drawn from practically a single blank of sheet metal, thereby producing a frame which shall be light 1n weight and have a maximum of strength for a given weight of metal, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
This invention has special reference to of frame covered by patent to Rollman No. 1,011,247, dated December 12, 1911. The blank is shaped substantially as shown in Fig. 3, consisting of substantially rectangular end portions a and a circular central portion 2). The side edges of the blank are bent at right angles to the mam portion of the blank, forming depending flanges 0 extending not only along the side edges of the end or bar portions of the blank but also around the edges of the circular portion. The central circular portion is bent or drawn upwardly to form a curved dome portion d, and in the center of this dome portion a hole is cut and the metal thereof is bent downwardly to form a depending annular flange for the upper end of the hub or shaft of the upper gear wheel f of the gearing. This hole may be closed by a suitable plug g of metal, shown 1n Fig. 2.
Extending transversely under the dome is a pair of bars h, for the reception of the lower end of the shaft of the gear f and for the cylindrical upper end of the freezer can i, the bars It being fastened 1n any su1table manner. The flange 0 at one end of the frame is provided with a hole y for the reception of a suitable locking device, and the opposite end of the blank is cut out to form plan of a sheettwo tangs which are curled to form hinge members 7: which engage a suitable pintle carried by the hinge clip Z fastened to the tub. At one side of the dome, the bar portion of the frame is slitted at intervals and the metal is bent downwardly to form dependlng flanges on extending longitudinally of the bar. Between these slitted portions the bar is left intact to form connecting cross pieces n. At the other side of the dome the metal is slitted and bent downwardly to form depending transverse ears or hangers 0 which are provided with alined holes which serve as supports or bearings for the drive shaft p of the gearing. Between two of the hangers 0 the bar is left intact to form a cross connecting piece 9, and at the end of the bar, adjacent to the hinge members 7:, another cross piece 1" is formed. In this manner a very light and well braced frame is formed from practically a single iece of sheet metal, and the formation of the device is such that it may be stamped and drawn to shape at but a single operation thus contributing greatly to cheapness of manufacture.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. An integral frame for ice cream freezer gearings, consisting of a single sheet of metal with a circular central portion, the longitudinal edges of said sheet being bent downwardly to form longitudinal flanges extending around said central portion and the full length of the frame, said central circular portion being bulged upwardly to form a gearing dome, for the purpose set forth.
2. A frame for ice cream freezer gearings, consisting of a sheet of metal flanged along its edges and having a central upwardly bulged portion, the metal at each side of the said central portion being slitted and bent downwardly to form depending flanges, for the purpose set forth.
3. A frame for ice cream freezer gearings, consisting of a sheet of metal flanged along its edges and having a central circular portion wider than the main body of the sheet and bulged upwardly to form a gearing dome, the metal at each side of said dome being longitudinally and transversely slitted at intervals, the tongues thus formed the central top portion of this dome being being bent downwardly, thus forming longitudinal flanges and also transverse cross pieces.
4. A frame for ice cream freezers consisting of a sheet of metal approximately rectangular at its ends and approximately circular mid-way its ends, the circular portion being bulged upwardly to form a dome and the central top portion of this dome being bent downwardly to form an annular flange e, for the purpose set forth.
5. A frame for ice cream freezers consisting of a sheet of metal approximately rectangular at its ends and approximately circular mid-way its ends, the circular portion being bulged upwardly to form a dome and bent downwardly to form an annular flange copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the a, and a disk 9 closing the opening formed by the bending down of said flange e.
6. A frame for ice cream freezer gearings, consisting of a sheet of metal flanged along its edges and having an upwardly bulged circular central portion, depending ears 0 at one side of said central portion,said ears being integral with the plate and formed by slitting the plate longitudinally and bending the intermediate portions downwardly.
