Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE SNOWDEN, OF HUDSON, NEW JERSEY.
IM PROVEMENT IN BEDSTEADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 111,785, dated February 14, 1871.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Beit known that I, GEORGE SNOWDEN, of Hudson, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Bedstead 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to bedsteads; and consists in an improved mode of fastening the side rails, end pieces, so that they may be firmly attached together, but be susceptible of easy separation.
Figure l of drawing represents a longitudinal vertical section of a bedstead put together on my improved method. Fig. 2 is a plan, and Fig. 3 an end view.
A A are the side rails, having at each end a projecting pin, a, with a head, b. E E are wires, threaded at one or both ends, and provided with a nut or nuts, c. B B are the end pieces, having slots c d extending through, and made larger at the top than the bottom,
to receive the pins a b and the wires E e. The side rails A are placed so that the heads of the pins a will protrude through the slots c to the outside. The rods E are then thrust through the holes d, and the nuts screwed up on their ends to the desired tightness.
A bedstead fastened in this manner is firmly held and easily put together or taken apart by the most inexperienced person, and, when put up, as shown in Fig.2 of the drawing, is ready to receive a Slat-bottom, C D.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding ot my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-
The side rails A, having the headed pins a b thereon, the end pieces B, having the slot-s c d therein, and the end-threaded rods E, all combined and described, for the purpose speci fied.
