Description

UNiTn rares PATENT Erice.
IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 l 1,651, dated February 7, 1871; antedated February 3, 1871.
To all whom, t may concern.-
Beit known that I, SAMPsoN B. KING, of Starkville, in the county ot'Lee,and inthe State ot' Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature oi' my invention consists in the con truction and arrangement of a plowstock,77 as will be herein-.titer fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my plow, and Fig. 2 is a perspective View ofthe plowfoot, showing the mode of attaching it to the stock.
A represents the plow-beam, B B the handles, and C the supporting-brace for the handies, all ot' which may be constructed in any ofthe known and usual ways.
D represents the plow-stock, which is formed of one bar ot" metal, bent double in the center, the center forming thelower end, and the ends embracing the rear end of the beam A, where they are pivoted by means of a bolt passing through said beam and ends of plow-stock.
The plow-stock D is adjusted at any angle desired by means of the curved bar E, which is placed within the stock, and a bolt passing through pivots the same. The upper end of the bar E forms a hook, which is inserted in a strap or bail, G, surrounding the beam A and resting in a notch on the same, as shown in Fig. l. The plow-stock is thus adjusted at any angle desired by changing the bolt pivoting the bar E within the plow-stock i'rom one hole to another, and alsoby changing` the bail G to another notch on the beam A.
The foot or plow-blade H is formed. as shown in the drawings, with a short shank, and secured on the front side of the plowstock D by means of bolt a and nut b, the bolt passing between the sides of the plow-stock. By this means the foot H can be readily adjusted at any height desired on the plowstock.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement of the notched beam A, bail G, hooked and curved bar E, and stirrup D, all constructed to operate as specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 12th day of April, 1870.
SAMPSON B. KING.
