INJECTOR.
Specification of .Letters Patent.
Patented-septies, 1914.
Application med Janu'a'ryic, 1914. serial No. 812,397.
T all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, ERNST KonRTING, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing in Peli, in the Province of Liguria, in the King om of Italy, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Injectors, o-f which the following i s,a true and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part poses and in which I combine with a, pref era'bly double tube,V injector a jetV pump to raise the pressure of the-feed water and a feed water heater through which the water j is forced by the jet pump and fed to the injector at a temperature and suicient pressure to enable the injector to handle it.
My present invention consists broadly in the use of a jet pumphaving perforations formed in its combining tube and a steam chamber (preferably for exhaust steam) surrounding said rforated combining tube in combination with an injector tube or tubes to which the heated water from the jet pump is forced under suicient pressure to enable the injector to work, y
Thedetails of my invention will best be understood as described vin connection with the drawing which shows in section an injector casing constructed and equipped to embody my invention in what I consider to be its best :form and in which A is the'casing a steam inlet B o ening into a chamfrom ywhich lead t e nozzles C, C', C2, su plying steam tothe having 2 i E is the admission port for feed water.
F, F, F2 are the combining tubes of the jet pump and injectors. The portion Fs of the pump tube is formed with perforations three combining` tu. of the apparatusi'f s leading through it and is surrounded by a chamber H having a connection H by which it can be connected to a supply of exhaust Steam. y
G, G', G2 are chambers in casing A connecting the tubes F, F', F2 in series, the chamber G2 connecting thro-ugh port L and valve M with the boiler.
N is an overflow valve casing connecting with chambers G, G', G2 through ports O, 0 and O2 and connecting at bottom to cham# ber N and overiow port N2.
P is a valve rod carrying valve vP which in turn carries valve P. v
The overiow valve is preferably connected to be operated by lever D, such connection being indicated, Q being an eccentric, Q a connecting rod, Q2 an eccentric and Q3 a yoke connecting to rod 1 but'as all the mechanism for actuating the overow valve is old and well known I have not illustrated it in detail and will not further refer to it.
It will be obviousV that when steam is admitted to the three combining tubes the pres` sure of the feed water will be raised progressively in the second and third tubes and vwhen steam, (preferably exhaust steam), is admitted to chamber H it will be sucked into the combining tube of the jet pump F and raise the temperature of the feed water delivered to the chamber G and the tubes F and F2.
*By my construction I am enabled vto economicallyV heat and deliver to a boiler feed water and while my invention is of general utility it is particularly useful for use in connection with locomotive boilers. r
Having now described myl invention, what I claim as new and desire tossecure` by Letters Patent is:
1. A boiler feeding dev-ice? for feeding hot 'steam chamber inclosing said combining tube in combination with a two tube injector con` nected tolfreceive the heated Water delivered by the jet pump.l
3. A boiler feeding device for feeding hot 5 Water consisting of a casing chambered to receive three combining tubes set in series and having a separate chamber inclosing the first combining tube and a valved chamber for the live steam with jets leading to each tube in combination With three combining 10` tubes, the first of which is perforated to communicate with the chamber inclosing it.
