Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed May 22, 1913.
Patented dept 191%., Serial No. 769,130.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J Aoon Tnos'r, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dentists Tools, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to dentists tools, and the object thereof is to provide a device of this class designed for use in malcin back plates for what are known as slidin teeth, used in bridge and plate work.
%he invention is fully disclosed in the following specification of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my invention are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a side view of my improved tool';-Fig. 2 a similar view showing the parts in a different position and indicating the method of its operation ;Fig. 3 an end view of a back plate, partially formed by my improved tool, and ;-Fig. 4 a similar view showing the completed article.
My improved tool a is made in the form of a air of pliers and comprises two handle members a pivoted together at a, and provided with parallel jaws a and a having contact faces a"; One of the faces a is provided midway of the corresponding jaw with a transverse groove a and the other with a corresponding transverse rib a and each jaw is provided at the end thereof and in the face thereof with a semi circular recess a formin on each jaw transverse edge lips a and t e end faces a of said jaws are at right angles to the faces a thereof. I have also shown at b in Figs. 3 and 4, a dentists back plate enlarged, and in Fig. 2, I have indicated the same and the method of forming it, in dotted lines.
In the first operation, the plate is placed on the face of the jaw a, as shown at 6 in such manner that the groove a extends transversely of the middle portion thereof.
he jaws a and a are then brought together and the plate is provided transversely of the middle portion thereof with a deep grooveb A pin 0 is then placed in the groove 6 and the plate is placed in the position indicated at b in F 1g. 2, and the aws a and a are again brought together and the plate is completed, as shown in Fig. 4, the groove b being formed into a complete circle as shown in said figure and through which the pin 0 passes, and the plate is ready for use.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new an desire to secure by Letters Patent is;
A dentists'tool of the class described, said tool being provided with jaws having flat contact faces one of which is provided with a transverse groove and the other with a corresponding transverse rib, both of said jaws being also provided closely adjacent to the ends thereof and in the faces thereof with corresponding transverse grooves.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subscribing witnesses this 21st day of May 1913.
JACOB TRQST.
