UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' OSCAR r. CABLSON, or LINnsrRoM, MINNESOTA.
COMBINATION '10011.
' Specification 01' Letters Patent.
Applicatlon flled Februarv'fll, 1917. Serial No. 150,043.
To all whom it may concern 7 Be it known that I, Oscar T. GARLSON, a
new and useful Improvements in Qombina tion-Tools, of which. the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in combination tools and more particularly to that class used about the house, workshop or farm. A further object Is to produce a tool that, while adapted fora variety of uses, is cheap to manufacture, of few parts and that is of light construction"and. easy to handle. 1 Y
With the foregoing 'andother ob ects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement bf parts to be hereinafter fully described, pointed out in the appended claim and illustrated in theaccon panying drawings which form a part of this specification and in wh1ch-- Figure 1 is aview of'the tool in side ele- Fig. 2 is a front view of the tool, Fig. 3 is an end view of the tool, Fig. 4 is a section taken on line 4-4 of Figj5 is a section taken on line 5-5 of ig. 6 is a section taken on Fi.1,and
i r 7 is a view of the o posite side of the tool I'OIIl that shown in ig. 1. Like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The referencenumerals 1, 2 denote the handles which at their upper ends form cheeks 3, 4 which, when the handles. ,are closed or brought together, abut each other,
and said cheeks are formed with opposed line 6-6 of shoulders 8, 9 upon said handles, the shoulder 8 of handle I abutting the portion-7 ahd the shoulder 9 abutting the rounded portion 6. The rounded portions 6, 7 are connected by p1vot bolt 10, and each portion 6 or 7 is formed with a. peripheral notch 11. The notched portions 11 cooperating with each other form a nail or wire cutter.- The nail or wire to be cut is placed in said notches .when they register with each other and the handles 1, 2 then opened thus severing the work held'in said notches.
The disk 6 is integral with a heel 12 formed w th I a transverse semicircular groove 13 formed withthreads 14, with a relatively smaller semicircular undulating groove 15, and'with a transverse'channel 16 merely to lighten its construction. The said heel is formed, further, with the hammerhead 17, with one lateral face having a beveled portion 18, and with a rib 19 which is formed with a groove20. The disk 7 is integral with a corresponding hammer-head section or toe 21 which is formed with the transverse semicircular groove 22, threaded, I and with the smaller semicircular groove 23, and with the transverse channel 24 and with one lateral face having a beveled portion 25. to: correspond to the beveled portion 18 aforesaid. Said toe is formed further with the rib 26-having the groove 27 corresponding. to groove 20 aforesaid. Said toe, further, is formed with the claw 28 that forms a nail-puller.
When the handles are closed the heel and toe sectlons abut and the semicircular grooves 13, 22 register, as, do the similar Patented June 22,1920.
grooves 15, 23. The portions 13, 22 form a screw-threading device. The body of the bolt to be threaded is placed between'said grooved. portions and the handles 1, 2 tightly pressed together when the body of the bolt under operation will be threaded. The
grooves 15, 23 jointly form a wire-c'rimper or device for taking the slack out of wire fence. The beveled surfaces 18, 25 jointly form pincers, and the grooved ribs 19, 26 jointly form a staple-puller.
What is claimed is A device of the class described comprising i a pair of handles, disks formed thereon and pivotally connected together, a heel formed integrally with one of said disks and provided' with a pair ofv transverse semicircular as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing wit- 10 nesses.
