To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SYvERr A.'-HEsLA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Butler, in the county of Ottertail, State of .lllinnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear ant exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to supports and more especially to a maternity support and' the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved arrangement of web bing and connecting members whereby the support may be properly adjusted to suit various requirements and which will properly support all parts of the body in any way affected, in the best possible position for health and comfort.

Another object of the invention is to provide a supporter which is provided with a novel arrangement of webbing forming the same and combined in a novel manner with stocking supporters as well as proving readily adjustable, light, strong and not bungling, burdensome, oppressive or clumsy when worn outside the underwear.

.Vith the above and other objects in view the invention consists of certain other combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, it being a still further object of the invention to provide a device which will not be likely to get out of working order.

In the drawings :F igure 1 is a perspective view of the device as worn. Fig. 2 is a back view, also showing the device as worn. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail face view of an upper back connecting member used with the device with portions of the webbing engaged therethrough. Fig. 4 is a similar view of the lower connecting member. Fig. 5 is a detail front elevation of the lower portion of the abdominal supporting portion and a stocking supporter connected therewith. Fig. 6 is a detail perspective view of a buckle mounted on each extremity of the main webbing. Referring to the drawings in detail, there 7 is a similar is shown my improved supporter which comprises a main section of webbing 10 which extends around the back and beneath the arms and it is snugly engaged through a pair of spaced slots 11 in a trapezoidal plate 12, the said slots 11 being vertically convergent toward the upper end of the plate and lying parallel with the side edges of the plate so as to permit proper bowing of the webbing to conform to the positions of the back in use. The webbing is then extended upwardly in front of the arms and over the shoulders and in close proximity to the neck as shown at 13 and then extended downwardly through oppositely disposed pairs of slots 14. in an oval plate l5 located at the pit of the back etween the arms, the said slots converging in opposite directions and being slightly spaced apart to bring the intermediate portions of the webbing in the same relation and from which point they extend downwardly and cross each other as shown at 16. where they are inserted inwardly through a slot 17 transversely of the trapezoidal plate 12 and then outwardly through a similarly disposed and longer slot 18 therebeneath and. which is provided upon its lower edge with upwardly extending teeth 19 adapted to prevent downward movement of the webbing sections therethrough. The webbing sections are then inserted inwardly through a slot 20 also disposed transversely of the plate and spaced below the slot 18 where the webs are held from upward movement by means of inwardly and downwardly directed teeth 21 formed upon the lower edge of the slot 20 and the extremities of the webbing are then extended downwardly and around the waist and below the abdomen.

Buckles 252 are slidably and adjustably mounted upon the eirtremities of the main web section 10 and comprise wire frames 23 having curved lower portions 24 and rearwardly ofiset vertical. portions 25 which are engaged by turned ends 26 of a plate 27 at the rear portion of the frame. A front plate 28 is provided at its upper end with spaced ears 29 pivotally engaged with the horizontal portions of the wire frame and provided with intermediate teeth 30 disposed at right angles to the plate so that whenv the plate is moved to a closed position toward the frame, the said teeth will engage or bite into the webbing and retain the same for movement and it will be seen that the lower portion of the plate also circular in contour and is slightly spaced from the similar shaped portion of the frame to" a purpose to be hereinatlter mane apparent. From the foregoing description in connection with the accompanying drawings, it rill be seen that a simple and ellicient term of device is provided for the purposes set forth and it will be apparent hat the device will be further espccially ethcieut owing to the fact that the so of the stocking supporters will serve to counterbalance the strain upon the shoulder engaging portion so as to keep the back erect and the ch -.st "forward whereby each part of the device will exercise its duty in a pleasant and effective manner and permit tree action of the limbs.

I claim The combination with a single length o't webbing having a portion arranged to pass across the back of the wearer below the shoulders, said webbing being continued in :tront of the shoulders of the wearer and extending backward therefrom and down the wearers back, the downwardly extending portions being crossed and having their ends brought around the wearers body and cow tinned in front thereof; of an abdomen-supporting cross strap connecting the two ends of the'webbing, a slide securing the downwardly extending portions of the webbing together between the wearers shoulders, and a second slide below the last mentioned slide and securing said downwardly extending portions at their crossing point and to the center of the first mentioned portion of the webbing, said slides being adjustable to and from each other.
