TABLE-DRAWER.
To all whom it may concern lie it known that I, LEWIS W. PnNNocK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented a new and useful Table-Drawer, of which the following is a specification.
My object is to make a table drawer'which may be used from either side of the table and having sub-drawers running transverselv of the main drawer and to combine with these features a slide for producing a shelter bottom over the sub-drawers and a second slide which may be used as a writing desk and which may be elevated and used as a mirror and my invention consists of the novel features herein shown described and claimed.
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective of a table equipped with a table drawer embodying the principles of -my invention. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary top plan view of the table shown in Fig. 1, parts being broken away to show the details of construction. Fig. 3 is a vertical cross section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2 with the parts all folded out of use. Fig. 4 is a vertical section on the line 4-1 of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a fragmentary sectional detail on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1. Fig. (i is a. fragmentary sectional detail on the line (3-45 of Fig. 5.
My table drawer is especially intended for use in an ordinary library table. The flat table top 1 is mounted upon legs 2. The end pieces 2") connect the upper ends of the legs below the ends of the top 1 and the side pieces 4. and 5 connect the upper ends of the legs below the sides of the top 1.
My table drawer is intended to slide both ways through the side pieces 4 under the top 1 so that it may be used from either side of the table.
The details of my table drawer are as follows: The main frame or drawer comprises a bottom 6, front pieces 7 and 8 extending upwardly from the bottom 6 and the end bars 9 and 10 connecting the upper corners of the front pieces 7 and 8. The slide way for the main drawer may be constructed in any of the usual ways, the only essential being that it shall allow the drawer to be drawn out at either side of the table and'for this purpose drawer pulls lland 12 are provided one for.
' each of the front pieces 7 and 8.

The secondary or sub-drawers 13 and 14 are mounted in the main drawer upon the bottom (1 to slidetransversely under the bars 9 and 10 and are adapted to slideeither way so that when the main drawer is pulled half way out in F ig. 1 the sub-drawer 13 may be moved out of the main drawer either to the right or to the left and so that when the main drawer is pulled out at the opposite side of the table as in Fig. 2 the sub-drawer 14 may be drawn out of the main drawer either to the right or left, that is transversely of the main drawer.
K The slide 15 is inserted between the bars 9 land 10 above the drawers 1 and 14 and is substantially one half the width of the main drawer so that it may slide one Way and serve as a shelf or cover for the drawer 13 and slide the other way and serve as a shelf or cover for the drawer 14. The second slide 16 has pintlcs 17 extending, from its rear corners into slide ways 18 of the bars 9 and 10 so as to mount the slides 16 between the bars 9 and 10, the upper edge of the front piece 7 being cut away so that the slide 16 may be drawn outwardly beyond said front piece and serve as a writing table and there being stops 1 against which the pintle 17 will engage to limit the outward movement of the slide so that the slide may be tipped upwardly to a vertical position there being a mirror 20 upon this front piece when in said vertical position.
In practical operation the drawers 13and 1-1 may be supplied with writing material and toilet articles and the various manipulations and conveniences are obvious.
I claiin:
IL A table drawer construction comprising a main drawer adapted to slide both ways from under a table top, sub-drawers mounted in the main drawer and adapted to slide both ways out of the main drawer on a line transversely of the sliding line of the main drawer, a sliding shelf mounted in the main drawer above the sub-drawers and a second slide mounted in the main drawer above the first slide and adapted to pull out and serve as a writing desk and adapted to swing upwardly to a vertical position there being a mirror on the front when in its vertical position.
2. A table drawer construction comprising a main drawer adapted to slide both Wdys from under a table top; sub-drawers and a second slide mounted in the main mounted in the main drawer and adapted to drawer above the first slide and adapted tov slide both ways out of the main drawer on pull out and serve as a writing desk. :1 line transversely of the sliding line of the 4 LEVY/IS W.
