Be 1t known that we, EUGENE B. COOKE and Cr'rAUNOEY O. LEWIS, citizens of the .United States7 residing at New Philadelphia, in the county of Tuscarawas and ,State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful .Improvements in Advertising 'VVaste-v a box of this characterwhich is simple andl durable invconstruction and-which has removable advertising slides adapted to be readily inserted at will and which are suspended from the upper e'd'ge of the box.

Another object is. to provide a box having a dome-like closure provided with a receiving aperture constructed for protection t against the weather while remaining always open.

With these and other Objects in view, the invention consists of certaln novel features of construction, combinationy 'and arrangement of partsvas will be more fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings z-Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a waste paper box constructed in accordance with this invention taken from one of the rear corners and showing the receiving opening; Fig. 2 ,is a centralvertical. section thereof;

In t e embodiment illustrated, a skeleton frame 1 is shown comprising a base or bottom 2 having .angular upright stri s3 secured thereto the upper ends of w ich arey connected with a band 4 forming the top of4 the frame. lThis band 4 is provided at its upper edge V,with aninturned flange 5 and said band is here shown in rectangular form having triangular corner plates 6 at each corner which are designed to brace the frame and render it ri id. Each of these plates 6 has an upwar ly projecting stud 7 for a 'purpose to be described. As shown, this band 4 has an inturned fiange'8 also at its bottom'or lower edge but this'may be dis;

Outer angular strips 10 are disposed over the strips 3 and have arranged betweenl them inter#y mediate similarly shaped spacing strips 11, said spacing strips being of less width than the strips 10 so that when the parts are assembled the edges of said spacing strips will be spaced inwardly from the edgesof the outer strips 10 to provide suitable guides when the parts are assembled for the removable advertising slides to be described.

The transversely angular outer strips 10 have their lower endsA extended below the bottom 2 to form supporting legs for the box which may be" of an desired length The spacing strips exten from the upper end of the 4outer strips 10 which are arranged iush with the top edge of the band 4to a point opposite the free ed es of the fianges 9 on the bottom 2 ofthe ra-me and these strips may be secured together by any suitable means riveting or soldering being usually employed. It will thus be obvious that when these inner, outer and intermedi? ate strips are assembled, the free edges of the inner strips 3 and of the outer'strips 10 will be spaced apart a. distance equalto the thickness of the stri s 11 and suitable guides thus provided for t e removable advertising slides which form the side members of the box. As shown the inner strips 3 are of greater width than the outer strips 10 and project slightly beyond the edges Vthereof but this lis not necessary but is desirable as it forms .a more eiective guide.

The rear Wallo the casing or box is formed by a plate 12 whichY is of a width slightly less than the distance between the free edges of'two of the intermediate strips 11 arranged at Opposite corners O'f the frame 1 and'this plate 1s adapted to be inserted in the guides formed by theinner and Outer strips 3. and 10 vwhich form' the two rear standards or supports of the frame. This plate 12 is provided at its upper end with an inturned flange 13 which 1s adapted to extend over and engage the flange 5 on the to fit and to be secured by riveting or other- Wise. This rear plate l2 is permanently attached to the traine l and is designed to support a hinged closure hereinafter described.

In an advertising waste paper box the combination of a skeleton frame comprising a bottom, angular upright strips secured to said bottom, a top band oonneoted tp said strips and having an inturned liange at its upper edge, guides at the opposite edges of said strips, removable advertising slides engaging said guides and forming the side walls of the box each having an inturned lip at its upper end for engaging the flanged upper end of said top band to limit the downward movement of said slide, the lower edge of said slide having a guide strip on its outer face terminating at its opposite ends at points spaced from the side edges of said slide..

In an advertising waste paper box the combination of a skeleton frame comprising a bottom, angular upright strips secured to said bottom, a top band Connected to said strips and having an inturned flange at its upper edge, guides at the opposite edges of said strips, removable advertising slides engaging said guides and forming the side walls of the box, each having an inturned lip at its upper end for engaging the flanged upper end of said top band t0 limit the vdownward movement of said slide, the lower over said upper end, a stop von the inner face of said top to limit its closing movement, said top having an opening in one side Wall, a plate in said top secured to the lower edge of saidopening and extending upwardly and inwardly, and a member overhanging said opening.
