ANTISEPTIC CASE FOR TOOTH-BRUSHES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 18, 1914.
Application filed November 5, 1913. Serial No. 799,358.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH FERDINAND Fo YER, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at 156 Rue de Paradis, Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhone, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antiseptic Cases for Tooth-Brushes, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
When a tooth brush has been used it is desirable that it should be disinfected for the purpose of destroying the microbes which are necessarily concealed in it after the teeth have been cleaned. The anti-septic case that forms the object of the present invention is intended to insure this disinfection ina certain and complete manner, as will appear from the following specification together with the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 represents the new case in elevation, taken in section through the line 1--1 in Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a'plan seen from above. Fig. 3 a transverse section along the line 2-2 Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a section through the line 3-3 in Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a transverse section showing as a variation an external form that may be given to the frame when the opening can be effected by a hinge.
The case consists particularly of a cap a that fits on to and completely covers a movable bottom 6. In the cap a small tube 0 is fixed, intended to receive a removable'reservoir (l which is maintained therein simply by friction. The sides of the case, at their ends are of the same height as the ends of the case, but the middle portions of the sides are made lower so that the fingers may take order to detach it from the springs which hold it. The reservoir d is intended to con-, tain in the form of a pastil c any anti-septic Whatever as powerful as may be desire the emanations from which are given off through the orifices d in the reservoir and enter the case. On the bottom 6 two supports f andare fixed intended to' support the tooth brush it, the position of which in the case is indicated, by way of example, by dotted lines. The supports are formed by a sheet of metal folded as shown in Fig. 4 in such a manner as to insure the position of the brush while enabling it to be withdrawn or to be put in place easily. On the bottom, also.
fixed, just below the bristles of the brush, are pads 2'- and j which may be made of felt, cloth, cork, etc. On these pads a few drops of spirit, eau de cologne, or any kind of dentifrice are poured, the effect of which is to insure the rapid drying of the brush and to contribute at the same time to its disinfection with the pastil contained in the cap. By these arrangements it will be seen that the tooth brush is completely disinfected. It is moreover dried and perfumed by the substances distributed over the pads placed under the bristles. Finally by being suspended in the case it is protected against any contact and consequently against any contamination. This case maybe made in any kind of metal, wood, celluloid, etc. its forms and dimensions may vary according to the dimensions and forms of the brush that it is to contain. i
The form of the case may be varied and be that, for example, shown in section in Fig. 5, in which, it will be seen, the bottom k-is surmounted by a cover I pivoting on a hinge m and occupyin the whole len case. All the ot er interior details are the same as above.
- Having thus described my invention what I claim 1s: I
antiseptlccase for a tooth brush, comand sides, spring clamps on said body to gth of the prising a body portion having a bottom, ends hold a brush, a cover on said body in con- I tact when closed, with said ends and sides, a tubular antiseptic container secured on the interior of said cover and antiseptic pads on the body portion adapted to underlie the brush bristles.
In testimany whereof I afiix my signature.
i I JOSEPH FERDINAND FOUYER. In the presence of two witnesses:
PREPOUTAL,
SEPTIMUS BRACHER.
