ANTISEPTIC HAIR-BRUSH RECEPTACLE.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, EDWARD HOERIOHS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Antiseptic Hair-Brush and Razor Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to antiseptic hairbrush and razor receptacles; and the object thereof is to so construct a receptacle of such class that it will be compact and attractive for use in hair-dressing rooms, and, furthermore, by means of which the hair-brushes can be thoroughly disinfected without coming directly in contact with the body of disinfecting material, and, furthermore, providing said receptacle with means to enable the cleaning of the brushes to remove loose hair when about to place the brushes within the receptacle to disinfect them.

A further object of the invention is to construct a receptacle of the class referred to which will enable the ready and convenient removal of the brush therefrom when it is desired for use and the replacing of the brush therein when not using it, so that the brush can be thoroughly disinfected.

The invention further aims to construct an antiseptic hairbrush and razor receptacle which shall be simple in its construction, strong, durable, eflicient in its use, attractive in appearance, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

WVith these and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention; but it is to be understood that I may make such changes, variations, and modifications therein as come properly within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in whicl Figure 1 is a perspective view of the preferred form of antiseptic hair-brush and razor receptacle constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the receptacle shown in Fig. 1,

and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modified form of antiseptic hair-brush and razor receptacle constructed in accordance with this invention.

Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings,

for dividing said body portion 1 into two brush-receiving compartments, the partition 2 acting as a support for the brush to be placed in the upper compartment. Within the lower of said brush-receiving compartments is arranged a casing or box 3, containing an absorbent material 4, saturated with a suitable disinfecting material, and said casing or box is perforated in the top thereof to permit of the issuing of the disinfecting material from said casing or box, so that the interior of the boX or casing will be filled with the disinfecting vapor and the brushes when placed in the body portion disinfected. The reference character 5 denotes the closure or cover for the open end of the body portion 1, and said closure or cover is formed with a marginal rim 6, adapted to surround the two sides and top of the body portion 1 when the said closure or cover is in its normal or closing position. Arranged against the inner face of the closure or cover 5 is a packing, preferably a piece of felt 7 and said felt 7 engages the edge of the open end of the boX or casing when the closure or cover 5 is in its normal position, so as to form an air-tight seal. The closure or cover 5 is hinged, as at 8, to the bottom of the body portion 1, and a spring 9 is provided, which causes the closure or cover 5 to be moved from its normal position when released from the body portion 1. The closure or cover 5 is connected to the body portion 1 through the medium of a' lug formed on the innerface thereof, as at 10, and a lug 11, formed on the outer face of the top wall of the body portion 1. When the two lugs engage with each other, the closure or cover 5 is retained in its normal position, and

to release said cover or closure 5 all that is necessary is to press down upon the top of the body portion 1, which removes the lug 11 out of the path of the lug 10, and, owing to the action of the spring 9, the closure or cover 5 will be caused to assume an open position, so that access can be had to the interior of the body portion 1 to remove a brush or to replace one. The inner face of the closure or cover 5 has a comb 12 fixedly secured thereto, and the function of said comb is to remove loose hair from the brushes when occasion requires. This is accomplished by pulling the brush across the teeth of the comb. The body portion 1 at its open end provided with a strip of material 12, which extends over the spring and hinge and engages the packing to assist in forming the air-tight seal. The body portion 1 has also arranged therein another foraminous partition (indicated by the reference character 2*) and which is placed above the foraminous partition 2. The partition 2 extends the entire length of the body portion 1, whereas the partition 2 terminates at a point removed from the open end of said body portion 1. The space between the partition 2 and the top of the body portion 1 is divided into a plurality of razor-receiving compartments through the medium of a plurality of vertically-extending partitions 2. The partitions 2 are imperforate. By such an arrangement razors can be inserted and removed from the receptacle and which also enables the placing of razors within the receptacle, so that they can be disinfected.

In the modified form shown in Fig. 3 the receptacle is formed of a lower and an upper section 13 1 1, respectively, connected together by a spring-hinge 14, and said sections 13 14 are retained in a closed position through the medium of the spring-latch 16, carried by the lower section 13, and adapted to engage the lug 17, carried by the upper section 14:. VVithin the lower section 15 is arranged a box or casing 18, having a foraminous top 19, and said box or casing 18 is adapted to contain the absorbent material saturated with a disinfectant. Within the lower section 13 is also arranged at one end a comb 20 for cleaning the brushes of loose hair. The upper section 14 is provided with a holder 21 for retaining the brush therein, or, in other words, to prevent the brush contained in the upper section from falling down upon the brush contained in the lower section.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. An antiseptic hair-brush and razordevice for barbers use, comprising a receptacle adapted to contain the brushes and provided with a swinging closure, a casing arranged therein and adapted to contain a disinfectant, means arranged in said receptacle for separating the brushes, and a comb connected to the inner face of said closure and adapted to remove the loose hair from the brush.

2. An antiseptic hair-brush and razor device for barbers use,comprising a receptacle adapted to contain the articles and provided with a swinging closure, means arranged in said receptacle for separating the articles, a casing arranged in the receptacle and adapted to contain a disinfectant, said casing having a perforated top, and a hair-removing means suitably connected With said closure.

An antiseptic hair-brush and razor receptacle for barbers use, comprising a body portion, a foraminous partition arranged therein, thereby forming brush-receiving compartments, a foraminous partition arranged in said body portion above the first-mentioned foraminous partition, a plurality of vertically-extending partitions interposed between the upper of said foraminous partitions and the top of the body portion, thereby forming a plurality of razor-receiving compartments, a sealable closure for said body portion, and a comb carried by said sealable closure.

An antiseptic hair-brush and razor receptacle for barbers use, comprising a body portion, a foraminous partition arranged therein, thereby forming brush receiving compartments, a foraminous partition arranged in said body portion above the first-mentioned foraminous partition, a plurality of verticallyextending partitions interposed between the upper of said foraminous partitions and the top of the body portion, thereby forming a plurality of razor-receiving compartments, and a closure for saidbody portion.

5. An antiseptic device for barbers use,com prising a receptacle adapted to contain the brushes and provided with a closure, a casing arranged therein and adapted to contain a disinfectant, means arranged in said receptacle for separating the brushes, and a comb connected to the inner face of said closure and adapted to remove the loose hair from the brush.
