ATTACHMENT FOR ABM-BATES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 28, 1914.
Application filed December 16, 1913. Serial No. 807,032.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADAMINA MARY Mc- QUHAE, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Im provements in Attachments for Arm-Baths, of which the following is the specification.
My invention relates to improvements in arm baths and the object of the invention is to devise a form of bath in which means are provided for preventing the bruising of the arm of the patient against the edge of the bath and it consists essentially of a receptacle designed to contain the necessary solution and a suitable cushion inner edge of the receptacle as hereinafter more particularly described.

Figs. 4c and 5 are enlarged perspective details of the bath, receptacle and cover. Fig. 6, is an enlarged perspective detail of the upper end of the adjustable standard. Fig. 7, is a plan section on line or Fig. 2.
In the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
A is a suitable base preferably supported by the front end on casters A.
B is a standard socket extending upwardly from one end of the base frame A.
B is a stem extending downwardly into a socket standard B and provided at its upper end with a right angular extension B terminating in a supporting bracket B of any suitable form.
B is a clamping portion comprising two semi-circular portions together surrounding the stem B and provided with outwardly extending flanges 18 into which is threaded a clamping screw B for drawing the ends together and the semi-circular portion against the stem B.
D is a tray supported by the bracket portion B and suitably secured thereto. The tray D is provided at one end with a slot D and a surrounding beaded rim D E is a receptacle designed to rest on the tray D and preferably provided with an inclined end E.
E is a cover for the receptacle provided with a flanged semi-circular portion E forlming an opening leading into the receptac e.
E is a handle for the cover.
E are hooked portions extending laterally from the sides of the receptacle E.
G is a pneumatic cushion provided with side straps G having eyelets G designed to hook into the lateral hooks E When the cushion G is inflated in the position shown it will be readily seen that the upper edge of the receptacle is protected so as not to hurt the arm of the patient when held in such receptacle. In Fig. 1, I show the arm in position within the receptacle and indicated for the most part by dotted lines.
From this description it will be readily seen that my bath supported as shown may be easily and readily elevated to any position according to the height of the patients arm when either in a lying or sitting position and also may be swung if desired at any angle required over the bed so as to allow of the patient changing his position and thus preventing over fatigue from the patient holding his arm continually in one position.
H is a discharge tap from which the fluid may be drawn off from the receptacle when required.
H and H are supporting brackets designed to hold a suitable thermometer H From this description it will be seen that I have devised a very simple device in which means are provided whereby bruising or rubbing of the arm on the edge of the bath receptacle and a resulting soreness is prevented.
What I claim as my invention is.
In an arm bath, a bath receptacle having hooks extending laterally from one end thereof and a pneumatic cushion provided with side straps having eyelets designed to extend over the edge of the bath and engage the hooks, as and for the purpose specified.
