IMPROVEMENT I DIE-,PLATES FOR SCREW-CUTTING DIES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom-it may concern.-
Be itA known that I, WLLLIAM T. COLE, lof the city ofN ew York, in theA county and State of New York,
have invented anew and useful Improvement in Screw-AA cutting Dies and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the laccompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to screw-cutting dies, and consists in an improved construction thereof, as hereinafter specih'ed.

K is the plate which c overs the knives, which are put into the recesses from above, and vadjusted by setscrews N.
By this construction of the shell which receives the cutters, the latter are hacked up at the point of resistanoe, and the strain of the leverage against them is taken by the ribs H.
By reason of this stiff support out to the veryend, I am enabled t-o use thin steel cutters,'which can be l readily changed by means of .the upwardly-opening recesses. The rst cost of these cutters is thus materially diminished, -while theycan be replaced or repaired at a very reduced price.
