Description

atm @da FRANZ WIESENHOFER, on FRnno'Nfr, oHIo.
Letters Patent No. 110,099, dated Deeember 13, lint.
IMPROVEMENT 'IN FAUCETS.
The Schedule referred to inthese Letters Patent and making part oi the B a'me.
.To all whom. it may concern:
Beit known that I, FRANZ XVIESEXHFER, of Fre` Vmont, in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio,
have invented a new and iinprovedFaueet and I do hereby declare that the following is Aa full, clear, and
exact ydescription thereof, which will enable others' other insects from entering the lower ends of the hollow spigots used iu certain kinds of faucets and the consequent injury to the liquor drawn through vsaid faucets.
rlhe invention consists in the connectionof a sliding and swinging plate with the lower end of said hollow spigot, the said plate heilig secured-in such manner that it will be drawn over and close the lower end o the spigot as soon as the faucet is closed. lA, in the drawing, represents a faucetof suitable Size and material.
B is the spigot arranged in the saine, the lower end 0f said spigot being tubular, so that the liquid will -iow through it when thefaucet is opened.
AG is a slotted plate,'conuected at one end with an eccentric piu, a, that projects from the lower end ot' the spigot,-while its vother slotted endis fitted over and supported' by the h ead'ofza pin, b, that projects from the under side. of the faucet.
The pin a is so placed that it will be furthest from the pin b when the faucet is closed, drawing thereby the plate C over the lower end of the spigot, as in fig. 1.
When thespigot is turned to draw the liquor, the piu t is carried nearer to b so as to .push the plate C clear of the spigot.
The attachment will thus operate entirely alitoinatically, and without interfering with theordinary operation of the faucet. It can be applied toI all existing faucets without difiiculty, the pins c being preferably atiixed to short sleeves that can be readily iitted over the ends of the spigots.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patenti Y A slotted reciprocating plate, C, and projecting pin b, combined with an eccentric ou the the tubular yend of a spigot, as and for the purpose described.
FRANZ VIESENHOFER.
