TYPE-WRITER, ATTACHMENT.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EARNEST LEE Ito'rr MAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Salt Lake City and Salt Lake county, Utah, have invented a new and useful TypeWVriter Attachment, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a holder to be applied to a desk to secure the typewriter in position and is. especially desirable for attaching to a tipping table inside of a typewriter desk to hold the typewriter in position. When metallic fasteners are used for this purpose the sound travels down them from the machine and the table acts as a sounding board, making it very unpleasant for the operator. To obviate this sounding board feature, I do not fasten the type writer rigidly to the board or table but permit some play between the fastener and the typewriter.

By the use of my invention all the disagreeable sounding board feature is removed. I accomplish this by the invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the entire device; Fig. 2 is a plan, Fig. 3 is a cross section, Fig. 4 is a front elevation, Fig. 5 is a section showing attachment to the typewriter and Figs. 6 and 7 are plans showing variations in the shape to fit various makes of typewriters.

In attaching the device the back of the typewriter is lifted up and the bar inserted behind the back 8 of the typewriter. The device is then attached to the desk by means of the screws 1, 1 being driven into the wood. Then the back of the tipping table inside the desk is tipped back and downward it is prevented slipping back or tipping backward by the back of the device and the bar 7 Specification of Letters Patent.

In order to accommodate the post found on some makes of machines I cut out the portion 8 shown in Fig. 7 or the portion 9, and for similar reasons the portion 10 in Fig. 6 may be cut out.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. As a new article of manufacture a casting substantially rectangular in form, having a closed back, top, bottom and ends, a recessed front with offset castings at the bottom forming supporting arms projecting forwardly and having pads at the ends, top and back.

2. A casting for use for holding a typewriter on a desk, substantially rectangular in shape, having a top, bottom, back and ends, lugs at the bottom adapted for insertion behind the back of the lower frame of a typewriter and having offset arms projecting forwardly by means of which same may be braced when attached to a typewriter desk and means for attaching same to a desk.

3. As a new article of manufacture, a typewriter fastening attachment, substantially rectangular in shape having closed back, top, bottom and ends and having a recessed front, with lugs projecting upward from the bottom at the front adapted to insert behind the back frame of the typewriter, and said article adapted to be secured to a desk and retain the typewriter in position.

4. As a new article of manufacture a casting substantially rectangular in shape having a closed bottom, top, back and ends, a recessed front, lugs projecting upward from the front of the bottom, means for padding between said casting and a typewriter held in position by same and means for attaching said casting to a desk.

5. The herein described typewriter fastener attachment, comprising a substantially rectangular body, with oflset supporting braces projecting forwardly from the bottom and ends, a recessed front, lugs projecting upwardly from the bottom near each end, adapted to be inserted behind the backmy hand in the presence of two subscribing frame of a typewriter means to prevent the witnesses.
